    Remote Antenna

As so many have, my range on my remote sucks. It's horrible, and it ain't the battery. I was gonna try to lengthen the antenna with some 22 awg braided copper wire. I've searched other forums and Google searched for the location of the antenna but can't seem to find a picture or any good description of where it's located. Any pointers would be appreciated!

The antenna on the car or within the fob? My B7 was the same way (currently the C5 is even worse, with brand new battery). The antenna receiving unit is above the rear window, underneath a trim piece (should snap off if you just pull). That board is known to go bad. At least that's what I've seen for the B6.

Yeah it's the receiving unit in the car. I heard the antenna was anywhere from where you just told me, to the rear bumper, to the passenger rear wheel well

Considering where they put the transmitter for the garage door opener (front bumper passenger side) could be around the same place or maybe your right about it being in the rear bumper! lol

I could've sworn in the manual it says where it is but I cannot remember

That's it. It's the grey plug on the right side of that picture. I'm betting the black insulator material has pulled away and pulled some connections with it. Common. Some guys have used binder clips to put it back together. There's a DIY on that somewhere, too lazy to look it up.

If you could locate it, I would greatly appreciate it! Gotta get this straightened out. I VAGCOM-ed the remote window feature but it's kinda worthless if I can't activate it more than 20ft away lol

Nice, I'll see how much of this is applicable. The boards on the B7 are different than the B6. Much appreciated.

Yea they are, but not when it comes to the black stuff pulling away. They put that board in one of the hottest places you can find on a sunny day.

If you touch the remote fob to your head when you use it, it actually increases the distance that it is effective. Sounds really stupid, but it does work.

Yeah I know that's an option but I prefer not to do that.

I believe it. My car bakes in the sun. Hopefully will get some tint thrown on to keep it a bit cooler
