    Highway fuel consumption

Just wondering what the average mileage people get on the highway is??

I use about 8 litres / 100km (~29mpg) and wanted to know if this is what most people get while cruising at 65mph on the highway in 7th gear.

    Cheers

How do you get into the 7th gear?

I get about 9L/100km or 26MPG at that speed.

No idea. My cruise gets set to 80+ mph, and there are some spirited runs with that almost every day. The best I've seen is 22mpg.

Most I got was 418 miles from a tank on 14gal which equated to 29.87 mpg. That's is 90% highway and using some hypermiling techniques and lots of discipline. Probably will never happen again as I love spirited driving. I just wanted to see what the car could do. My AVG is 24-26 with couple WOT a day and 21 when I drive very spirited.

My avg is about 22, with a few WOT/90% spots per day, but if I'm on a long highway road trip, I've seen 28mpg for a tank doing 78-80

There are probably already 30 separate threads about MPG's...

The average MPG is 20 for this car => http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/s4

The best I've ever gotten on a road trip after 5 years of ownership is 24mpg. No - I was not cruising at 65 though...

On full highway I generally am 25-27 mpg. Best I ever had was coming up the Columbia Gorge in Oregon with one hell of a tail wind and got 30 mpg.

I drive ~9-12 miles one way for work and I average around 18-20 on the tank with 93octane...which is oookay. But on longer drives with a speed of 65-75mph, I get a very decent 28-29mpg.

Everybody has already answered, but I average around/just shy of 30mpg as long as I'm cruising at a set speed. From my parents' house to mine (suburb to city), I average around 31mpg (the suburbs are at a bit higher elevation and the city is on the lake). The same trip used to get like 37mpg with a 2013 Honda Accord Sport.

BTW, the question of using AC keeps coming up. The truth is, modern cars actually get around the same mpg with the windows up and AC on as they do with the windows down. Modern aerodynamics are drastically affected by open windows, so there's actually no benefit in trying to drive with the windows down to avoid using the AC.

I can get 7.8 L/100km with lazy highway driving (80 km/hr back roads) doing the speed limit - ish. 10 to 11 around town is typical. 9s for typical mixed spirited driving on the commute. Running 91 e10.

I've read this, too. However, I've calculated mpg on several occasions with and without A/C on the same trip, in similar conditions. I've always gotten about 2 mpg less when using the A/C vs having the windows down. But, when I drive with the windows down I drive with the front and rear passenger windows down halfway. Not all 4 down. I've found that produces good airflow without being obnoxious. I wonder if that creates less drag (and better mpg than using A/C in the process?)

Interesting, wasn't expecting so many responses!

Looks like 7th gear (if you've got it) at 65 mph (~100 kmph) on highway cruise control averages 25-30 mpg (which I can hit if I try)

I'm getting around 10-15 mpg per tank (almost all city driving) which is still far below the average, which seems to be 20 mpg... I used to have an '08 S5 which would get me the same milage

EDIT: Car has averaged 15 mpg over its lifetime of 15k miles, pretty fu*king terrible. Somethings wrong with my car though ha.
