    MMI / Steering / AWD issue

    So I've had my B9 for a month and now has 4,600 miles on it. About a week ago I was on my way to work and I hit the map button and I see a message that states that navigation has not been configured yet. Hmmmm... mmmmkayyyy?? So I flip the switch to the telephone. "Bluetooth device not operational." What? The presets for Sirius would switch to a station but then state that the preset was not currently programmed. That's interesting because it just went to the station. Can't pair a bluetooth device. Trust me. I tried my work cell (Apple iPhone 6s) and my personal (Samsung S7E). No joy.

    So I drive an hour down to El Paso Audi and the take it into service and pretty much tell me that I need to bring it back and drop it off because their troubleshooting software is telling them it needs to be brought to Audi's attention. Whatever the hell that means. I thought I was at an Audi dealer! Anyhow... I digress.

    So. I have to take it in when I get back from travel in 10 days. I'll report back if they find anything crazy that caused the issue but just wanted to put this out there. Anyone have any issues with their MMI yet?

    ////

    The other day I was leaving work. I was waiting for the gate to open (Auto engine off feature is disabled) and I starting turning the wheel to the right but it only turned about a centimeter and locked up. Wouldn't move even a hair more to the right. I let off it for a second and tried again and it moved freely. This made me a little nervous for a couple of days but hadn't repeated.

    ////

    Backing up in a parking lot the other day the car wouldn't move. Acted like I was trying to drive against the parking brake (which wasn't on as I pulled into the lot but put it in reverse to back into a space). So anyway, I needed to get the car moved and saw I was completely clear all around. I pressed the gas a little harder and the front driver side made this horrible tearing/grinding sound as if I rolled the front end over the curb. Anyone experience this? Is it just an idiosyncrasy of Audi's AWD system?

    Other than those oddball issues, I still love the car and really want that APR tune. But my issue with killing a warranty might force me to go with Stasis even if the gains are only half. Decisions, decisions.

    I am having some difficulty with Nav as well as Bluetooth - some of which is probably getting up to snuff with some of the techy features, but for sure it isn't acting as perfect as the Audi videos suggest. I mean they give a simple request for directions and boom it works perfectly. I have to reenter the command several times before I actually get what I am asking for.
    As for your other issues, no, I have experienced anything like that (luckily) and the sooner you get these issues taken care of the better. I'd be very curious about what the findings would be. Question - what is Stasis? And why would it not - like the other tunes, void the warranty?

    By any chance had you open the driver's door?

    STaSIS? Are they still in business?

    BTW, regardless of the tuner you use, it will void your warranty.

    Good call, that's happened to me a couple of times - sure wakes you up!

    Good to know, that's what I figured.

    From what I understand they are still around and still supported by Audi (so long as a certified audi dealer is the one to do the installation). I've only researched them so far. I've yet to make any calls so who knows. If they aren't around, I'll be sticking with the stock tune for some time.

    And no. The door wasn't open when it got hung up. It almost seemed as if there was an issue with the gearing in the drive train. Seemed like something got stuck.

    I doubt that... Audi never supported any car that was modified by STaSIS nor do I think they are still in business and would not have worked on the B9 to offer performance packages like they did on the previous generations.

    In the past STaSIS used APR and GIAC for their chips or packages and I'm sure APR is not in business with them anymore.

    IIRC, the deal in the past with some Audi dealers was that they became a joint venture between themselves, STaSIS and GIAC and if you bought a STaSIS package from one of those dealers the 3 partners covered any warranty claim associated with either tranny or motor problems.

    Now today if one of those dealers that was in partnership with STaSIS is still around and if they had sold a STaSIS kit to a customer in a brand new car at the time, they are most likely obliged to continue that warranty to the owner. I doubt very much that still applies today and especially to the B9.

    Update from dealer: After completing nearly a dozen "test plans" all the while sending pictures and providing reports to Audi proper, the dealer's technician was instructed to order a replacement "Central Control Module" and concluded that the original was dead indeed. At under 5k miles and less than six months of being in existence. Wow. That's gotta be some sort of record.

    Anyhow. Part comes in Thursday. Supposed to get an update Friday after an attempted complete re-programming of the entire MMI system.

    So. Anyone wanna take a guess how much all of this would have cost if it were out of pocket? I've got a better idea. Keep it to yourself because it is irrelevant. Not keeping the car past warranty expiration.

    Shortly after writing the previous post I received a call from the dealer. Car was ready to be picked up.

    Attaching a shot of the slip in case anyone has any issues. Turned out to be the 5F control module. Total cost for the dealer was $3,600 not counting diagnostics, testing and re-programming of the MMI system. This would have easily run $5k for the out-of-pocket customer.

    Yea, the 5F module's have had their fair share of issues. Anything from 13 and up can have software/hardware issues which will lead to a software update and/or module replacement.

    Welp. I know what car I'm not keeping past warranty.
