I went through the setup of my garage door opener using the car menu. I do believe that lights flashed 3 times as indicated. However, afterwards the door does not open.

I have a Genie remote and universal receiver that look like this:

Did you click the button on the back of the garage door unit? I had to do that to pair it because my garage door changes the code every time. With that type of opener you have to pair it directly with the opener

takes me a few times. after I click the learn button from the garage opener box, I run down and hit the home link button like 10 times until it starts "rolling"
