Upgrade to our SQ5 instead of Brembo BBK Kit?

These seem to be a better option and a cost savings to Brembo no? Thoughts?

That specific kit linked with the OEM 365mm rotor is not an upgrade IMO due to the 15mm decrease in diameter compared to stock. However, a couple of companies do make 380mm rotors for the RS calipers and that is a good setup. --> https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2739887/ The RS calipers are very good and have been used on the top VAG cars (Gallardo, R8, RS5, etc) for a long time. The Brembo GTs look better but besides that, I don't think they warrant the extra money from a performance standpoint.

There is also another 380mm kit ECS offers with the Porsche 19Z Brembos, which look better (IMO) than the OEM RS kit, and are roughly the same price. https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2825794/

I wish ECS Tuning would just come out with a nice front performance rotor like they offer for rears. I'd upgrade all rotors, leave stock calipers and upgrade the pads. That would be perfect for me.

our stock brakes are not even fixed calipers, so moving to a 6 pot brembo kit would be a massive upgrade for sure as long as its the 380 kit.

Mops has all the hookup for this. Shoot him a PM.

Yes, I contacted MOPS and as always his pricing is perfect and he's a true gentleman! My question still remains the same, according to the specs the RS5/6/7 brakes are made by Brembo and are 6 pot calipers, the Brembo BBK GT are basically the same except theirs say Brembo and Audi's Version says RS? I know the rotors vary from 365, 380, 390mm am I still missing something? This would be the first time I'm changing brakes on a Audi, normally I've owned the RS6, RS4 and I never needed to upgrade those brakes at all. I feel the SQ5 needs a little more stopping power. Thoughts?

Is the Brembo 19z a bolt on for the SQ5? I've searched and don't see anyone running that setup. If it's bolt on then maybe just buy the 19z calipers and use stock rotors?

    Joey

Never mind, I guess a bracket has to be used. Oh well.

Yes both setups linked (380mm RS5 and 19Z) are bolt-on for any of the B8 platform cars including the Q5 and SQ5.

Also ECS made a custom bracket/carrier for the 19Zs to fit the B8, and I don't think they offer the calipers separately from the kit. Even if you could get the calipers alone, theres a good chance the stock rotor offset/height isn't correct for the calipers.

Get girodisc 380mm with the RS caliper. /thread

only issue with 380mm rotors is rim clearance on anything smaller than 20" wheel

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll do some research on rotors.

    Hi guys.

Trying to use this thread to answer a personal doubt.
Does Sq5 brakes are bolt on some 8T platform Audi A5 from 2009 ?

Can't seem to find some thread that can help me.

I don't get why the OEM SQ caliper is 2 piston.

...and for anyone wanted just 380 floating rotors from ECS to just match their available rears (keeping stock calipers), they say there is nothing in the works in the immediate future.

Has anyone not tried to use the RS5 380mm 2 piece rotors (ecs, girodisc, jhm, etc.) with the stock SQ5 calipers? I can't track down the rotor dimensions to confirm fit, but I have a feeling they do.

The SQ5's already have 380mm disks. What is gained by using the RS5 rotors?

In the case of the ECS two-piece ones, weight savings.

Well if anyone cares the offsets match up, so they should work. I'll be ordering a set in the near future.

I would be interested to know if they're simply bolt-on.
Could you also get the weight of both when dismounted?
