I've had my b7 about 5 months and my screens been black. But every so often I get a treat and it turns on.
    what could be the problem?

    You need this:

You might be able to get away with just trimming a mm or three from the corroded side but maybe not. What happens is the pins on that cable that power the backlight oxidize and basically stop conducting power to the backlight. If you shine a flashlight at the screen from an angle you can see its on but isn't lit. A new cable should fix it or you can try trimming it. I was able to resurrect mine by rubbing a pencil eraser on the cable contacts, but that only worked for a week then became super intermittent again. so I just replaced the cable with the one above and its been solid for over a year.

Does that just unplug to replace? Where can I get one? Is it Dealer only?

I've only seen them for sale from the eBay seller I listed above. Not a dealer part.

There is a DIY somewhere for replacing it. You have to disassemble the unit but it's really not bad. Just 10-12 screws and a bit of patience. The only thing you have to be careful of is not jostling the DVD player

No problem. One tip is flip the screen down before you cut power to the unit. You need the screen flipped out to access the bracket screws on the back but you can't motor the screen out once it's disconnected.

Also make sure you have the radio unlock key, you'll probably need it when you plug it back in.

Stuck your fingers behind the screen and see if that wire is loose.

Mine just pushed in ever so slightly and worked.

If that works. Take it out and make sure it's all the way in.

    Don't be rough! Lol.

Be careful with the clip that holds the ribbon on the headunit side (as opposed to the one on the display screen side).

I broke mine, and now I'm SOL!

Buy one on eBay. They pop up every once in a while. Not cheap though.
Just be sure you buy the right one!

Edit: just realized you may have broken he mother board clip. If that's the case. You can either replace the motherboard. Or use some rubber glue to hold it in tight. (Not the best option. But I've seen some hack jobs that do work)

    Thanx
