    C7 A6 3.0T - APR Stage 1 - Oil Burn

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Any input on this?

    2012 A6 3.0T w/ 63k on her.

This maybe coincidence however immediately after the APR S1 in my car I burn through 5 QTs of oil. I was told with extreme confidence that the APR flash does not effect oil consumption. So I flashed back to stock so I could take her to the dealer and now am going through a multi stage test and review to find the problem.

Anyone else have experience with this?

It may be coincidence but just wanted to reach out, it's just odd that it started immediately after the flash.

I got the car back yesterday afternoon from the dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong. That is may be a bad ring or scoring on the inside of the engine. So now I have to drive it and when the light comes back on immediately go to the dealer to do add'l investigation, etc.

Well if that's the case and your walls are scored, you'll need a replacement engine.
Step one of the test would be to replace the pcv and a ecm update from Audi.
Step two would be either piston/ring/bearing replacement or a crate engine from Audi.

I had my engine rebuilt from my previous s4 after I failed step one. It still burned oil but not as much as before the rebuilt engine. I was burning oil even before the tune though.

Not sure yet about the rings and scored walls. That's a worse case. But I believe they said the PCV was ok at this point.

Update - $1000 later, turns out it was the oil sensor.

I've been putting this off for my A7. Saw this thread and ordered it without another hesitation. So dumb not to have it come with the car.

How did you add 5 qts if it wasn't low in the first place?

Are you guys just leaving the dipstick in while driving? I just got it and the stick is plastic... This could be a dumb question but seems like engine heat and petroleum products would eat plastic rather fast..

They are currently running an oil test on my S6. I had an oil leak fixed after complaining of a burning smell and going through a quart of oil but since I have had the leak fixed i've gone through 2.5 more quarts
