What prompted the battery change? Dead and wouldn't start? You didn't happen to notice doing anything wrong when replacing did you? Such as an accidental arcing or possibly short something out? No codes I take it? What tune do you have? is it the HPFP tune?

It might also be the throttle body alignment, seems like others have had that issue after replacing the battery.

One little arc yes. No codes and I haven't an idea what tune. I'll have to wait till tomorrow and ask the guy I got it from.

If you know someone with VCDS I would try the throttle body alignment. I would think it would throw a code though.

You can also do the throttle body alignment without VCDS. It's on here somewhere. I believe it is the same thing.

The whole turn the car off and push the pedal for 30 second thing? I don't believe that is the same thing, the computer does that everytime you turn the car off, what you are referring to is for older VAG cars I believe.

There is an actual vcds module you can check the status of and calibrate.

    I found this.

Since you don’t have access to VCDS give it one more try with a manual reset. Disconnect both battery leads. Run a jumper across both disconnected battery leads. Leave it that way for one hour. Then reconnect the battery. Pull the intake hose off of the throttle body so you can observe the butterfly plate. Turn the ignition key to the on position (do not start the engine) and wait two full minutes. Stick your head underneath the hood so you can observe the butterfly. You should hear some high pitched whining noises from the throttle body and right at 30 seconds you should see the butterfly plate open just slightly and immediately close. Wait another 1-½ minutes before turning the ignition off. If that doesn’t work you may have a bigger problem than just a TB reset.

You push the pedal for 3 seconds actually. Get in and close door, key in position 2, depress pedal x3 seconds, turn key off, release pedal, wait 2 minutes, remove key. Resets throttle response. This works on the B6 at least but i believe every time the car is turned of this happens on the 2.0T FSI like Der Konig pointed out.

What tune do you have? I know sometimes my APR somehow got itself into Valet mode and wouldn't do squat.

When you're talking to the seller ask them which program is set to which on your tune if it is APR. Someone above mentioned you could be in valet mode, that may be true, but you'll need to know which program is which to switch it back to the appropriate octane program if using the cruise control stock to switch programs. In other words, if you have 4 programs from APR for example, you'll need to know which one is set as valet, which is 91 octane, 93 octane etc.

The car is new to you, so what I mean is (with APR at least) you can hold the cruise control "set" button in and after a few seconds you'll see the CEL start flashing, if you continue to hold you'll see the flashing sequence change indicating which program (repeating 1 flash - program 1, repeating 2 flash - program 2 etc.). You release the "set" button when you are on the program you want.

Tune switching information should have come from previous seller... if not, they are a jerk!
