    Why would it? As with every other system, the onus is still on the driver to confirm it is safe to proceed.

    I seem to recall that some countries actually show the yellow in all 4 directions, essentially warning of an impending light change no matter your position in the intersection. Always thought this was odd...

    I think it would actually help. Right now its more of a guessing game when the light is yellow so we see people gun it. Knowing I have only 2s left until it turns red, I would coast and brake to a stop rather than guess it would be still yellow and go wot.
