    RS4 oil temp????

Was just wondering what oil temp your cars are running at under normal driving conditions. I'm sure ambient temperature can cause variations. Mine sits around 200-210, 220-225 if I drive hard for a minute or two. That's on an 80 degree day.

Thanks for the input guys! I had just read an old post on another site from 2008 and the guys said after doing his second oil change at 12 thousand miles, he was happy to see his oil temp down from mid 190s to a constant 170. Was wondering if mine was running a bit hot but sounds like I'm good.

That seems really low. I wonder if he didn't drive far. Mine sits right around 200 when fully warmed up, even in the winter. I've never seen it stay at 170. The 7000 rpm warning doesn't even go away until around 145.

I'm in the area as you, and my temps are about the same as yours even with my rs4 being supercharged. Highest it's ever been was 235F after some hard driving. 5w-40 Lubro Moly is being used for oil.

There was another thread about this recently with tons of datapoints on oil temps based on weather, driving condition and driving style, off and on track, etc. but also on what oil was used. Search for it!

is 219 fine for long durations?
Im always flogging the car and its always hovering around 219 with that sort of abuse.

Also she emanates a ton of heat at that temp, from the trans tunnel and firewall... almost like the heater is on. do any of you track people wrap the downpipes or add insulation to reduce heat in the cabin?

    TIA

^^ Didn't know this is the cause of heat in cabin when not running heater in hot weather. Heat emanating from footwell like the heater is on happens to me sometimes when ripping in the summer too. A mechanic told me its probably an issue (recalibration needed) with the heater blend doors, even though the heater was off during all these instances; don't know whether to laugh at that suggestion or if its true (My AC works, and even with ac on, heat coming in cabin, mostly from footwell; AC on its own working great, but you can tell would be hard to distinguish when you have cold air and heat coming from the same area). I remember a post about cerakoting or wrapping the headers, not sure how helpful it would be (downpipe is closer to firewall). 219F Equivalent to 103C, haven't driven in a while but from what I remember was pretty normal temp.

Other please chime on above post and my related points thank you
