Funny thing I just noticed.. after 3 1/2 years.. In Park or neutral while stationary, if you blip the throttle it will not allow the 6cyl to go past 3800 rpm?.. S'up wit dat?

I noticed that the first day I got my car. Maybe that's engine protection from overheating due to stationary high rev-ing. If you are rolling you are free to put in neutral and go all the way to redline.

    rev limiter.

Rev limiter (fuel cut-off point) due to engine protection

Only way to eliminate that is the tune (APR, 034, GIAC, etc.)

Why would you want to rev that high in neutral?

I wish someone would tell the Ferrari and Lamborghini drivers of Dubai this fact, there's not a week goes by without some inconsiderate prick holding his supercar on the rev limiter for 3 minutes outside our apartment at 2am. These people obviously don't wake up at 5am to go to work.

    rant over.

Just saw a video of an Aventador got on fire by reving in neutral at a red light.

I recently bought my B8.5 S5 ,and when I was doing the test drive, I always tests it's limits. I immediately notices the 4K RPM limiter on Park/Neutral. It's for "protection" as everyone has said, along with using launch control. Regular launch control has a safety applied to the % of Torque applied when launched, and you can see how the car laggs for half a second after you launch.
This was all removed when I got the car APR Tuned to Stage 2 ECU and TCU. Not only can you now Rev to Redline at a Stop (to show off or whatever,I personally don't do it since I don't have an aftermarket exhaust yet), but now when using launch control...Torque applied is insanely high where you can even get a little wheel spin if you launch at 6K RPM (There are 3 Levels of Launch after tuned...you just hold the accelerator down and the RPMs pause at 3 different RPMs until you launch).
They're too many limits and restrictions put on the car, simply tune it at least to stage 1 and you'll really appreciate the difference.

No need for a tune to disable it, at least not with the manual transmission cars. Simply press and hold down the electronic stability control button until it is FULLY disabled. If only pressed quickly once, and not held for long enough, it only partially disables the nannies and it will not work. Anyhow, once all nannies are fully disabled, the car will rev past 3800 when stopped. That said, avoid over-revving the engine unnecessarily, specially while stopped and not enough air running through the front end/engine cooling system.
