Frozen rear toe - Control Arm / Track Bar / tierod - Aftermarket parts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am looking for this part for the rear of my '03 allroad. The rear toe adjustment is frozen and I am assuming that the adjustment bolt is going to be frozen to the bushing inside of this tierod/track bar. Does anyone make aftermarket ones of these or am I stuck paying $100/pc for them?

Also, any help/insight/suggestions on how to remedy this situation or what other parts I may need while I'm in their is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

You can see it in place just above his right hand in this picture.

Have you tried spraying it down with Kroil and letting it soak in for a day?

The eccentric is completely rusted/welded to the body. Looks like steel vs aluminum, that never ends well.

I can't really get any pb blaster or anything into the bushing since the eccentric is blocking it. I can just cut off the eccentric/bolt head, but I am guessing the shaft of the bolt is going to be bonded to the bushing as well.

If you do that, you may be able to punch it out of the bushing (fingers crossed). Not sure if you can buy a new bushing or unit at FCP Euro, considering they are right there in CT. Be sure to anti-seize it next go around.

Yep, anti-seize is my friend. FCP lsit the parts, but genuine Audi only. I was just wondering if an aftermarket version existed.

There is no way in hell that you will successfully be able to reuse the originals once corrosion sets in. I picked up two nice ones off ebay for about $40 apiece, they were in good shape and worked well.

How does the knuckle side get held in place? Is there a pinch bolt or something that I should be prepared to replace?

It's held with bolt and a nut, same way as control arm.I've been in same boat, ordered OE and replaced it,there's no aftermarket on these.I wouldn't go with used as there's rubber bushing in the and we all know how bad they can go after time and you can't have exact age/mileage on used part, just not worth risking putting a sloppy part in again and saving $50 or so...

OE Audi only, get used ones on ebay. THey're usually in very good condition so long you get one from a fairly young car. The reason I went with used is b/c they costed me 22-25 each and that's a lot of dough for two... And you'll still have to get eccentrics from dealer and they aren't exactly cheap either. That's what I did after toe rods sawzall'ing. Before you reinstall, grease everything in anti-seize to have a realistic chance to adjust these in the future.

Okay. I just did this. It took me FOREVER to find the right parts and I almost didn't even want to post this because it was so much work finding it for myself. haha

If you don't want to wait for that to ship from Poland, I have a set for sale on eBay:

How are you guys cutting the old one out? Are you dropping the entire lower control arm?

Holly sh*t, that was no joke. Another case of don't try to take a short cut. Once I dropped the lower control arm it was much easier to cut off.

I think I used 12" carbide tipped blade (Demo demon from Diablo, I love these blades!) and was very very careful because air line is very close by.... Tow cuts on both sides of bushing and it comes out.

Yep, unhooked the airlines and dropped the entire lower control arm. Side 1, 4 hours, side 2, 1 hour.
