OEM SQ5 Springs on Q5, worth it?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
There is a local seller with some like new (50kms) SQ5 springs for sale. Are they different from the Q5? I have a 2013 3.0T S-line.

Is the SQ5 lower compared to the Q5? I'd like to lower my Q5 a little, but not too much.

    Thanks for any clarity provided...

A google search tells me that the North American SQ5 is same ride height as the Q5, but stiffer. Accurate?

They are the same thing. Buy euro springs or h&r sport

It's not going to lower it any at all.
It may be stiffer. I think they are different part numbers.

If you want to lower (minor) I'd go for Euro SQ5 springs, but those are honestly weighted to the TDI.

Your best bet TBH, would be the H&R springs -1 (I believe is for the 3.0T) vehicle weight.
You may get bounciness tho with stock shocks. Many here pair them with Bikstein B8's.

That's the easy route to go. SQ5 springs aren't going to lower you at all though. Same ride height.

There's actually ROW height springs for the SQ5 for the TFSI engine. Those would lower you to the proper "Euro" height.

That being said, the cost of going with the ROW SQ5 suspension isn't worth it unless you're really looking to keep all OEM parts. You can pretty much get a set of coilovers for that price, and you can get the H&R + Bilstein B8 combination for even less. If you're doing it for warranty purposes, I'm not sure a US dealer would honor related warranty claims given it's not the suspension the car was built with.

I had a member ask me for a quote on the full euro suspension conversion and he said I came in well below other retailers.

Let me know if you need to source a set I'd be happy to quote you a price!

Has anyone installed SQ5 springs on a TDI? I would be interested if it tightened things up and only ended up lowering just a smidgen to allow for continued use of the ADS.

It's not going to lower it. If anything my SQ5 seems to ride a hair higher than our old S-line Q5. The springs are stiffer as are the shocks. It'll "tighten things up" for sure. I've never had a factory car with damping this tight.

IF the front end of your TDI is noticeably heavier than the North America SQ5 then you may get slight lowering but otherwise not.
