Suspension Advice - New Shocks or Go Coilover

Well I've read just about every thread I can find in this section regarding spring/shock combos and coilovers, yet I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger. I'm currently running Rev Motoring Comfort Drop springs with the stock sport shocks. The ride isn't bad, but when you go down a rougher road it gets a little bumpier than the wife and I care for. I'm really torn between picking up a set of Koni Sports (on sale for $479) or going with Solowerks (on sale for $549). I'm very happy with the drop of my springs so no need for the height adjustability of the coils, but the Koni's have to come off the car to adjust the stiffness so it'd be pretty important to get the settings right the first time since its quite difficult for me to remove them for the adjustments (no garage and a sloped driveway).

I doubt Ill find anyone with the Rev Motoring/Koni combo and Ive read mostly good things about the Solowerks so Im conflicted lol. Improving ride quality being the main objective which route would you go in my shoes?

If you think the car rides to rough over bumpy roads with Rev springs and stock shocks why do you think it will improve with coilovers or Konis which are both valved more aggressively than stock shocks? Konis are only rebound adjustable not dampening, so even full soft it will be more than stock. The only way to "improve" the ride you described is to go back to the stock spring/shock combo.

Honestly, that's the nature of an aftermarket suspension.

Lowering springs are always stiffer and amplify road imperfections. I've ran high-quality coilovers and while nice roads felt OEM smooth, rough roads felt like a mine field. Just no way around it. OEM sport shocks and a mild "comfort drop" springs seems like a mild setup which should ride fairly well. If your OEM sport shocks are pretty old then new, properly matched, shocks will help...but it will still be harsh on rough roads. No point in getting coilovers if you don't need adjustability, especially if your option will be low-quality budget coilovers.

A well matched suspension system can feel very comfortable. On another car I went from OEM to Koni coilovers which I felt was never a good match for the car. It was uncomfortable and pretty harsh on bad roads. I replaced it with another coilover set that had even higher spring rates but better matched dampers and the difference in comfort and handling was noticeable.

So rereading my original post, I think I did a bad job of explaining why I'm looking at changing things up. When I say bumpier I mean its bouncier than I would like, for example when I come to a stop the car seems to rock front to back..not horrible, but its noticeable so I'm assuming the shocks are past their prime. I'm fine with a little harsher ride to get rid of the wheel gap. I haven't had a car that wasn't lowered for quite sometime so I'm used to feeling the road, but coming from all of my previous setups, I just cant stand the way the car rides right now. Id love another set of KW's, but $2k is out of the budget at the moment and Ive read such good things about the Solowerks I figured they may be an alternative. I may just hold out an save up for the KW's because I know I'm getting a quality, matched set, but as with most mods I'm antsy to get them now.

What did you end up going with?
