Question Slight banging noise go up steep hill in heavy traffic

I was driving up a steep hill at snails pace due to heavy traffic, on two different brake applications, I heard a very slight bang . I have 2015 S4 with DSG. 9700 miles. Is this normal DSG behavior? Happened on first two brake applications not on later ones.

I have a 2015 DSG and am not surprised In fact when the car was new I got a lot of strange engagements. I think I got used to the way the DSG acts at low speed but on a steep hill it knows it needs to compensate for the hill.

You are saying what I described is normal?

complete stop and then starting out? sometimes if i'm on a steep hill my brake assist will make some noise when it releases which can be described as a banging sound.

it could also very well just be the transmission changing gears. If you're going slow/crawling in traffic it might have trouble figuring out what gear it needs to be in along with the grade of the hill putting added stress on the engine/trans to keep it going up

thanks , I thought brake assist only works going down a hill But the more I think about it it did sound like a brake application,. Looks like normal DSG operation. This is the first time in 18 months when that traffic scenario occurred.

My '15 DSG started making a noise on up/downshifts, Audi replaced my entire transmission fwiw. Don't know what kind of a noise you are referring to, mine was more of a 'CHH', like screwed up synchros in a MT car

I had a similar occurrence on a steep hill in traffic, it was as if the engine slightly stalled and then found first gear, then there was a small clunk. It happened around 48k miles, I haven't been able to reproduce it. Did OP throw any codes?
