    S5 woes...

So, the day I purchased my new to me FL S5 during the ride home I took a rock to the center of the windscreen even with the wipers. by the time I got home the crack was wider then a dollar bill esentialy forcing a replacement windscreen. How ever because it was below the dash line and could only be noticeable if you knew it was there I decided to blow it off for months. Fast forward to last week, with the high heat the crack decided it wanted to expand vertical instead of horizontal. Well, so I called Safe-lite to get a new windscreen. Today they come out. I ask them if its acoustic glass.. answer maybe. I think screw it, I just need a new windscreen and acoustic glass wont distort the sound system that much. So the guy cuts out my oem screen. upon taking the replacement out I notice immediately the thing was damaged in the upper right corner.. His response I can give you a discount.. My reply this is a 60k car no way I'm driving around with some damaged wind screen.. Anyways he has to put it on anyways because he had already taken mine off.. So, after he gets thew "new" screwed up windscreen in it turns out the rain sensor wont fit nor will my rear view mirror..

So according to him, he will be back Thursday and they will order a OEM screen from the dealer.. all I can say is Whelp I aint paying any more then the quote they gave me! I'm sure an OEM screen will be well over 1000 bucks vs the 400 for the quote they gave me.

To add to my WOEs, I got the windows tinted and some how a stone/object got stuck between window and the door frame leaving a NICE scratch in my tint on the passenger door. one of my tires with less then 3,000miles on it got destroyed by a nail....

I will say one thing. I love this car minus that fact it has the WORST Clutch known to man! I cannot get from 1st to 2nd to 3rd with out it being jerky as all hell there just is no ability to feather what so ever... 3rd to 4th if trying to quick shift I miss often. I never user 5th gear............. and I posted about it earlier. The general shift out of and into any gear feels more like farm tractor then a high end touring car!!!

My S3 got a crack in the windshield 2 weeks after getting it...insurance covered it, no deductible. Check your insurance company and see if they offer the windshield coverage. I've done it twice with no issues.

They only cover repairable cracks. Other wise deductible applies.. which I have a 1k deductible. I'm going to see about getting it changed to $250

Or free... All the glass shops near me waive the deductible and just charge the insurance.

I'm not changing it to get the glass fixed. It'll be done after the glass is fixed

You should have checked with them in the first place to make sure you were getting an OEM. That's what all those numbers are for in the corner. Sorry to hear about your issues, all of it sucks.

Here's a positive thought: at least the problems you encountered are not true problems with the car, and were caused by foreign objects, which could (and eventually do) happen to most cars.

Well, if it makes you feel any better I have a 2-year lease on my '15 S5 and on May 1, I had a valet parking attendant pull it into a concrete parking bench, damaging the driver side front quarter. It has been perfectly repaired, but State Farm has now turned over my case to a legal firm to recoup my $500 deductible from the valet parking company. I'm still out $500.

This past Saturday, my front tire went flat. I took it to a tire place and was told I have nails in 3 of 4 tires. Two of them had to be replaced with new tires (one patched) to the tune of $565. My lease ends in December. Over $1000 spent on a car that I turn in in 4 months.

Just know that you are not the only one and things could always be worse. And as TTRStud said, they are not genuine problems with the car. My S5 has been rock solid otherwise.

Good luck with getting all your repairs done!

Never said they were.. Just Woes... all though the clutch issue is virtuatly a car issue but it's just poor design or after thought that isn't drivability affecting. IMHo..

With that being said. Safelite replaced my windscreen again today with OEM audi Glass.. Cost; orriginal quote of 400 bucks.
