    B6 3.0 Stuttering

    Hey all,

I am new to this forum however have had my Audi for quite some time. I own a 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro with the 5 speed automatic which currently has around 180,000kms.

The car has been trouble free mostly except for the last few thousand Kms where i have been experiencing weird stuttering issues whilst driving. Basically while accelerating at certain temperatures and at normal acceleration around 2-3k the car feels like it has no power or just gradually stutters until the gear change, once the car has warmed up i also feel the gears while the engine is downshifting to come to a complete stop during which i also sometimes feel a loss in brake pressure as if i don't have full braking power, under load however the car seems to pull pretty well. I have tried a few things so far however i still cannot solve the issue. When ice cold however the car seems to run better but once the temp gauge moves it starts to play up.

Things i have tried so far are:

    1. MAF sensor cleaning
    2. New fuel filter
    3. New air filter
    4. Tried to find and fix most of the vacuum lines i believe were broken/leaking.

I am also not getting any codes through VCDS however i did however notice that my intake temp was around 57 degrees celsius which i thought would be quite too warm however due to the absence of any codes i overlooked this. Basically i am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before and knows how to fix it because I'm not sure where to go next.

Thanks in advance guys n gals :)

Sounds like it may be related to the transmission. Maybe you're leaking fluid? That might explain why it runs better when cold since the fluid thins out once it warms up. Just a guess though.

Before you do a flush though look into it and consider your options. I have heard from some mechanics that once a car becomes high mileage messing with the transmission fluid can actually make problems worse. Maybe you can check it for now and see if it's low, then get more info and make a decision from there. Best of luck!

That is a high intake temp. Any chance you could log the RPMs, MAF readings, intake temp, bank 1 & 2 lambda, and timing? At that high of an intake temp, the car may be pulling timing, which will make it feel slow.

Ok so i went ahead and logged the data you asked for imnutts, however i don't know if i have logged the right data for timing nevertheless i was driving the car in around 15 degree celsius weather according to the temp sensor on dash with no traffic around. Most of the roads however were quite hilly and had no traffic present. The issue was occurring however i think it is worse during the day when driving normally. F0reignfeatures, i have actually changed the fluid and filter in the transmission before, was around 174k before i changed the fluid the car would clunk quite frequently making for a very bad driving experience, the shop who changed the fluid reckon that it was never changed before and i believe it after seeing the actual fluid myself that was in the car.
