Make sure your mmi panel is back on, no breaks int he MOST ring if you disconnected it. Have its retract button back on and it should work.

Can you show me a picture of the MOST ring? Or the parts that need to be connected? The motor doesn't even try to move, I don't hear anything.

Also on the back of the mmi, all of the plugs are connected except one, I think it's a green one, it's a single plug. Is that possibly the issue? I didn't see a Green plug anywhere. I'll see if I can take a pic when I get home

The MOST ring is the fibre optics that link the cars MMi system together. If one is not connected or faulty the whole lot goes down. If your MMi unit is reconnected make sure the fibre leads are firmly in. If so then look elsewhere such as the switches i mentioned. Have you scanned the car for faults?

I would have a million right now. My car is completely disassembled and I don't have a scanner yet.
    This is the inside.

Does this unit need to be fully plugged in for the screen to move? Seats and steering wheel aren't in the car either. I can't figure out what exactly needs to be installed to let the screen flip out. I remember when I first took was able to move the screen I had the mmi in and the driver seat and steering wheel still installed. That's the only difference I can think of. Everything else was out of the car. Something odd about the mmi, is that all the plugs plug in except one
The bottom center right green one closest to where the big harness plugs in. I looked everywhere and I don't see a plug that goes in there. Am I going crazy or does nothing plug in there?

The green connector deals with the video input usually from the rear analogue camera. Plug the mmi back in and test it. Steering and seats dont have to be in. The connector on the far right is the fibre MOST ring and not connecting this ( which also includes the CAN Gateway in the ring) will not allow a lot of systems to operate or 'come alive'

I had all of those in and nothing with the screen flipping up. Only thing that doesn't work is the flip up of the screen. Like I said only connector that wasn't in and I couldn't find was the green one.

Depending on just how disassembled the car is, you may have disconnects the MOST fibre ring somewhere. It runs from component to component. If any one component is off - or missing, you break the MOST link and it won't work.

It doesn't do anything when I press it but it's plugged in. Nor does the screen try to move automatically.

Can you be more specific where the MOST fiber ring is? I have basically everything out.
Not even the seat or steering wheel is in there anymore.

As long as you have everything taken apart, try pulling the screen out of the dash and turning the drum that has the cord attached.

There may be to many components removed, ie Aircon controllers and seat memory.

I tried pulling it apart and nothing happened. I couldn't get the screen to move.

Yes that what I had originally thought. But it's weird because the button doesn't work but everything else seems to work??

    UPDATE ON THIS ISSUE:

Got car back together and screen turns on and flips up, all functions work so it seems, then after 20 seconds it powers down, and you hear the motor still going. Almost like the power just CUTS out like it's cutting it on purpose.

Any help would be great. Can't bring it to dealer till I figure this out, it has aftermarket stereo.

Have you changed any of the MMI components? It sounds like component protection kicking.

Also, all the MMI components are interconnected using fibre optics in a daisy chain configuration. If one piece of the daisy chain fails, all the subsequent components don't work.

Check the fibre cable (orange in a black plastic tube) is not kinked, pinched, bent or unplugged from any of the MMI components. You can also check fuses for every component.
