    carbon fiber!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was actually wondering what the market is like for carbon fiber parts on here, I recently got a new job making carbon fiber and stuff for gokart bodies, having a b5 1.8t of my own as a daily, i was just wondering what kind of parts "if any" Would interest someone if i started making B5 parts, i made my own car some trim pieces and they turned out quite nice. if anyone has any suggestions for something I could make let me know! just starting out not really knowing what anyone would want, since im not a "PRO" yet my stuff will be priced low. Let me know what interests u to be made in carbon fiber, I might just make it and give you first dibs!

Can do Mirror caps easy, Interior beltline is what i experimented with on my own B5 and i liked it, Cupra lip would take some measuring but could be done rather easily, And exterior door pillars what a great idea! Roof rails would be difficult lol

Just don't pull a o_carbon and promise caps then realise you can't do em.
If you were closer id send you parts to fucks with since I have a parts car.

    Pics of ur beltline work?

I attempted to get a c.f. buddy to make stuff for us but he was not interested. He works on jetskis and has done a full c.f. dash, doorcards and other bits for his car.

no, but i can get pictures of some of the pieces i make tomorrow, after im done with all of them the only pieces i made were on a pre face lift 99, that were the small piece to the left of the wheel and the back right door piece "Just to test to see how they would turn out, Will get a pic of it tomorrow "if i remember to lol" i make everything from gokart dash assemblies to interior side panels so i believe it wouldnt be hard to finish making the trim pieces lol

i have a parts car, and 2 mirrors that are off of a different a4, model, They take 24 hours to make, the only thing ide have to do is go pick some fiberglass resin up to make a cast for them im just testing the waters to see if it would be worth to do a small run of some pieces, If theres a lot of interest Ill do them for sure :D

I would love a front lip for a A5 non-sline front bumper. Dunno how we'd get the dimensions for that though

lol true, It would be guess work using some clay to make a mold for it and going from there ide have to buy the bumper to replicate it lol

Front fenders would be a premium to make because of dry time being double

carbon body panels would be very appealing if you can make them. Interior bits would be best though, especially at a low price

ecs makes mirror caps...so I would suggest focusing on products that are harder to come by or not available. This will guarantee good production flow

Literally every panel has already been made for this chassis. Many are no longer making it since the chassis is over 20 years old and no one spends money on them anymore.

If there was a big enough queue for fenders ide go pull mine off and make a cast for a mold i could be in a profitable margine if i sell 4 fenders for 200, the only problem is idk 2 people who want both

Id like to see a carbon fiber hood if it can handle the heat from engine and also carbon fiber trunk.

Is it possible to make a mold of the doors and make CF doors? The fastening points would have to be reinforced I think.

Figured for someone who has a fully gutted car and wants to drop some extra weight, they can go full carbon fiber, doors, trunk, hood, bumpers, fenders, basically everything. dont know if the doors would work with all the weight of the window rail, the glass itself, motor, door lock and etc, might be too much weight for CF.

If you made c.f. fenders for 200 pair im sure you would have alot of buyers here and on the s4 side. Shit even 400 a set would sell. Company's that sell them right now are quite pricy.

Well i mean 400 pays for the material used so i mean if i make a set can make them, also do all of the cars have the same fenders? Im pretty sure the b5s do if so i can do 400 a set

At that price everyone is happy, i believe ill reinforce the cf so that small dings wont be an issue i can start making the mold for them this week and next week to start making them who ever is interested it will be a first come first served basis, when ive got them made will sell them as i get them done

Same minus the dumber square turn, and front part where the corner turn of 2piece headlight is. I think it would be better to make facelifts to appeal to s4 crowd also.
