We are building a new garage, 13 foot ceilings, lots of room. Looking to put in a car lift for future projects. Any recommendations? Something compact, but sturdy. Style?

Bendpak or rotary. Pretty much everything else is junk and not worth cheaping out on over $1500. I went with a bendpak HD-7W, primarily for storage, and have been very happy. Assembled it myself, which is pretty easy. However, you will need and engine Hoist or other heavy lifting device to do so--the runways are damn heavy.

I have a Rotary, and it has been great for over 10 years now. The ChiCom lifts worry me, and I like that (at the time, anyway, IDK if it is still true) my lift was USA-made, and ALI certified.

For working, a 2-post asymmetrical is my first choice; for storage only, a 4-post lift is a better choice.

My garage is a working one, hence the 2-post.

Zero'ing in on these 2: http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/two...xpr-9s-lp.aspx and http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/two...r-10as-lp.aspx The Aysmmetric setup seems more versatile. I can mount it more towards the back wall of the garage and have some the car hang out to the rear maximizing floor space. Like in Vmax211 photo.

I've done a lot of research on this, especially on the Rennslist forums as everyone over there seems to have a lift and the consensus seems to be the Bendpak HD-9 four post lift.
Champion makes a single post lift, which gives you more room in the garage but you need to have a good foot of concrete rated up to 5000 PSI or so in order to be 100% that it can support a car.

Tony makes a good point. Get the specs for the lift and make sure your contractor pours concrete to meet or exceed the specs. I'm went with the HD-7W to maximize space between the columns. Lift is primarily for storage but I do some work with it on occasion. I got the jack bridges so I can get the wheels off the ramp if I need to. Two post will still be easier for engine out work though and is still quicker to get the wheels in the air. As I wanted storage, I like the drip trays you can get for in between the runways.

The architect is in the loop on the slab thickness, concrete type, ceiling height, and even placement of 220v and airline conduit. I am thinking beyond the Audi to the restomods I'll do with the kids when they get older. So a two post lift is ideal. The xpr 10as lp from bendpack looks like the ticket.

i have a bendpak 9000st fourpost lift. had it for 5 years without a single issue. i use it quite a bit for storage, oil changes, exhaust, etc etc. i went back and forth whether to go two or four post lift, and for what i do, the four post was the way to go. bendpak is a solid company, that would be the only lift i would buy, although i know there are a couple other good ones. obviously, you need air supply, thick slab, and 220 electric
