No AC fan from rear seat or floor vents.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So yesterday we had passengers in the rear seats and they noticed that there was no AC fan coming from the rear floor vents. When I set the climate control button to direct air to the lower vents only, I had nothing coming from the lower vents either in the front or the rear. Dash and upper vent fans work fine. So basically the fans work for the upper and center, but not the lower.

Any ideas? I have not plugged in VAGCOM for any codes yet.

Could be an issue with the HVAC flap motor/door, and it may not be functioning to direct air down to the floor vents.

It absolutely could be, is this a servo issue or something I can check with VAGCOM? Not sure where to start with this problem.

Using it on the HVAC module may already be logging a code, but if not, the output tests should let you cycle through it. If it is that which is bad, either live w/o floor air or you'll need to remove the dash to get to the HVAC blower and door unit

Let me pull some some codes first... Removing the dash on a daily driver is a no-can-do. However pulling the glove box to check the servo's power is a can-do. or can I see that actuation through VAGCOM?

I had this same exact issue last year and the dealer fixed it under warranty by replacing the Climate Control Flap Motor, or so it claimed to be on the work order.

Had a similar issue but it happened to me in the winter (noticed I was not getting heat from certain vents). I had to replace two servos.

Where are these servos and flap motor located?

Servos are under the glove box. There are 5 of them. Search for a glove box DIY on how to remove it.

Then scan for codes in your central convenience module. I had two codes but didn't know which servos they were. You can see which flaps are moving and which ones aren't but I don't recall if it was so obvious which servo controlled which flap. So what I did was unplug the harness from one servo at a time, scan for codes until I saw which servo coincided to which code in VAG-COM. Replaced the ones that were faulty.

Which block did you want to see? If I am reading this correctly, V70 and V113 are reading high which could indicate a failed servo motor.

its really weird that it says a maximum value/stop value, and like half of them are outside that range...

Did you try what mtroxel posted?

Group 6 seems to be the one that jumps out, it is WAY past its maximum value, maybe its stuck maxed out? If they are labeled correctly and the first groups were temperature doors I don't think they would affect flow at all

I have not tried changing out the flap motor yet, still trying to diagnose. It's possible the values are messed up simple due to a bad motor...

I swapped out the V70 servo, cleared codes but still have the same issue. Here are the new block readings that are out of range and the only diag code stored.

Check out this thread. The second post tells you how to reset the HVAC adaptations to default.

Bingo! Resetting all adaptation values to zero in MB 001 brought everything to queue. Thank you for your help!!!
