    Allroad hatch - bottom chrome trim removal

    Any suggestions how the chrome trim strip at the bottom of the hatch comes off?
    If prying: where are the holding clips located (to prevent bending)?

    Found 2 nuts 2 inches or so from both ends. 10mm.
    one came off, the other is rusted and stripped. Will try to chisel off (not sure how to re-attach afterward).
    Any other fasteners holding the chrome strip?

    not sure but have you tried the 3m tape stuff? amazing hold.

    It has 2 strips of narrow adhesive tape from end to end on the top and bottom of the trim. You'll need to replace that when reinstalling it. I used 1/4 3M molding tape and it was thicker that what was there but held fine.

    The "nuts" on either side aren't really normal threaded nuts, they're the kind that just sorta pinch the threads. Usually they get deformed when you try to remove them and wont come off, but you may be able to pull it straight off with a needle nose pliers.

    The other thing holding it on is three plastic tabs that go into holes in the hatch. One directly in the center and two off from that. You should be able to remove it all with a thin metal tool prying it off from one side to the other, just be careful not to bend it too much.

    I put mine back on with just the molding tape and the plastic locating tabs and it's stuck there pretty good. I just removed the threaded studs off the back entirely as they're just a spot for rust to start.

    ghetto? that 3m tape is serious stuff. ive used it many times. you can hardly pull the item you used it on from the car after its set. whats ghetto about that? all new stick on trim and emblems use tape like this.

    ghetto: gluing stuff on that has bolts/screws/nuts.
