    Best price on new Q5

Hi, buying a new q5 this week. I know I can get a 2016 q5 3.0 at near invoice with incentives. My question is, is there any wiggle room on the 2017's?

    Thnx for your help

Easy answer....yes, but it depends. There is always wiggle room, especially on anything in stock. It depends on where the dealership sits on the volume vs. margins spectrum. In general you'll get the best deal on what's been sitting the longest, but even then it can depend on who's running the desk, how many vehicles they've sold that day, and how certain they are you'll buy. Keep in mind that wiggle room doesn't just apply to sales price. If you're after Audi Care or any "back end" warranties, accessories, etc., let it be known up front.

We just arranged to purchase a new Q5 3.0 TFSI Premium Plus for my wife with Tech Package and Luxury package and a few other things in Lava Gray Pearl over Titanium Gray/Steel Gray (MSRP $54145). This will be a purchase and we generally keep our cars 6 or more years, so model year wasn't really an issue for us, especially since there is absolutely no difference between a 2016 and 2017 Q5 other than the appearance of the sales brochures (same pictures and text but different format). We were able to negotiate a purchase of 8.5% off MSRP, and it's a dealer trade 400 miles away and the dealership is absorbing the cost of arranging for and transporting the Q5 to our city. There were only a handful of 2016's left with Luxury and Tech in the US, only two of which had the the light interior color that my wife demanded, so I think we did okay on price, but I also suspect I could have negotiated an addition .5% off if I'd have pushed a lot harder. I don't think I could have done nearly as well on a 2017. If you could find a 2016 with the features / options and color(s) that you want, you'll do a lot better on price that way. Certainly worth looking into in my opinion. Best of luck with your purchase.

Congratulations - well done! I see you are in the NYC/NJ area so I'm guessing the competition between multiple dealers makes them all more ready to deal. We only have one Audi dealer in town with next closest 80 miles away. My sense is we could have done a little better, especially if we'd have been interested in one of the 2016's on our dealers lot. We are still happy because we found the car my wife wanted. Even at 8.5 % off MSRP, we are $1000 below invoice.
