How do I get the rear hatch to open by hand?

Button above license plate not working. Could it possibly be turned off?

I've had problem with the opening the trunk from the outside with the key fob in my pocket. Thought it was due to the cold temperature affecting the sensor, but had the same problem once or twice this summer.

What gets me is you cant close the hatch with the interior button, only open. on all of our previous domestic vehicles with electric assist rear hatch you can open and close the rear hatch with the interior button.

Mine closes using the driver's door button or the fob. Of course, I've got Doug Robling's module that allows me to do so. It has proven very useful a number of times. Search the forums for him. I think he charges about $115. . .#worthit.
