    A4 Diagnosis help (RPM lugging)

Hello all, I need some help.

Specs: 2008 Quattro, 2.0T, triptonic auto

About a week ago I had the misfortune of driving into some rather deep water.
    Issues immediately arose as follows.

Loud metallic clicking noise, RPM lugging throughout the whole RPM range (excluding idle).

The metallic noise turned out to be a bent dust plate contacting the flywheel. It was surgically removed by an Audi technician and the sound disappeared.
The Audi dealership also cleaned the intercooler/air box, and replaced the air filter.
Audi also inspected the turbo (appeared to be fine).

But after i got the car back it became painfully clear that the main issue was still persisting.

On acceleration or during normal operation, the engine RPM lugs sporadically throughout the entire rpm range.
I can smell what appears to be gear oil emanating from the rear of the vehicle and inside the cabin.

I cleaned the MAF sensor, changed the oil+filter, changed spark plugs, and ran injector cleaner through the gas.

I'm planning on swapping out the transmission/diff fluid to see if any change arises.

I'm not sure what else i can do as there are no OBD2 codes; A local German car shop was also unable to diagnose the issue, which ended with them referring me back to Audi.

I've been a long time viewer of Audizine, and I hope we can figure this out for future members.

    Thanks everyone!

    Zane

    In order of appearance

    Dont do that

    Dont drive anymore

I would immediately be afraid of destroying the granny and diff and maybe have the car towed if I had towing

(unless the water was up the the windshield the maf is unaffected, but could use a cleaning, and same thing for spark pligs

I would have done these with oil especially considering these go underwater before the engine has anything that could let water in (the engine is pretty much sealed, while granny and diff both have breathers that most definitely are not and are submerged much quicker)

Pray that tranny damage and diff issues dont arise...

Ps off-roading rules state that after any water crossing all fluids are changed as soon as possible
