Having a hard time picking a cold air intake

I felt like it was time to finally get a cold air intake, there weren't many options but the ones that stood out to me the most were the roc euro and Injen. They both seem very similar but what does this community use I'm having a little hard time choosing between the 2.

The only true "cold air" intake would be the stock air box. All others will pull air from the engine bay. For aftermarket, I would recommend Injen. Good price and it will perform as good as the others.

Or you could try my setup. A little pricey, but it both performs and is very audible... SC whine! Stock Rs7 air box with 034 silicone hose.

Have there been reputable tests that indicate that these actually do anything? I remember the K&N air filter craze decades back and it didn't seem to do much.

I went with the polished Injen for several reasons.
    1. I like that it sits in the stock air box so it grabs cool outside air
    2. I like hearing the supercharger whine
    3. The polished tube looks better than the OEM plastic
    4. I got it for $185 shipped from ebay. This seller accepted my offer - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Injen-SP3085...BVy2lb&vxp=mtr

Looks so much better than Roceuro. I can't get myself to pay close to $500 for something that was put together from the plumbing isle of Home Depot. Too bad Injen doesn't have a CAI for the S6.

I can always drill some holes on the box and stick a high flow air filter...voilà, I have myself a CAI!

At $300 for a RS7 intake box, I would agree, I may be going this route myself.

Do you have a link to the 034 hose you used? I don't see anything like it on their site . Was it designed for use on our intake or did you cut it to fit?

I used the hose for the B8S4, and had to use an reducing coupling to make it fit. It's about 2" too short.

Ok great. I found your post in another thread on the RS7 intake, but was wondering if the stock tube will fit up to the rs7 box? Looks like you just swap out the dual pipe outlet for the single pipe outlet found on A7 box...

The stock tube will fit. I've been thinking about switching back. The sc whine is a little too much at times.

    K&n filter.

It's a great setup and only costs $280 from ecs + $50 for the k&n. Oem quality, great sound and performance. Especially if you figure the stock rs7 box and oem filter are good for 560+hp. When you buy it from ecs, it also comes with the stock filter so you'll have a spare when it's time to clean the k&n.

I ended up buying one from ecs tuning. It still isn't here and it's been a week and change since I ordered. Apparently there is one in North America and they had to grab one from Canada or something. Just a heads up.

Here it is installed. I took some extra steps and heat taped the parts exposed to the engine block. I'm having issues with charge temp on hot days... Trying everything I can before upgrading cooling system.

I have a Roc Euro up for sale in classifieds. Only had it on for about 2500 miles.

Check out this recent post from the B8S4 forum if you haven't already. It's at least half as much cost as the brand name heat exchangers and some are reporting the same temp drops:

Did you ever install it? Any benefit to running a RS7 box on the TDI?
