Can the stock used flywheel be used in mild stage 3 applications? Or does eveyone just go to a new LWFW?

    Will work fine
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Its a great opportunity to get rid of a lot rotation mass, stock fw is very heavy, i recommend you go with 034 unit if you have the time

I'm not opposed to running a lightweight fly wheel, did some searching and couldn't really find anything about not replacing the flywheel causing issues obviously it will depend on condition of the fly wheel.. I just wanted some info in regards to whether people have issues down the road running the stock flywheel after upgrading turbos, so I can know whether or not a new flywheel is a must for my budget

This flywheel is made so that you can bolt the b7 rs4 clutch right up which you can get for really cheap. Probably as cheap to buy this flywheel and the rs4 clutch/pp which holds stage3 power than it is to buy just a pp and flywheel that are made to fit your stock s4 flywheel.

I've got one of these, it's very nice. Drive well to. Sad to bury such a beautiful piece of steel. JHM stg 4 B7 RS4 clutch, grabby but a DD for sure.

TTV/b7rs4 would be perfect for a DD mild stg3. Prob cheaper than resurfacing the oem fw and getting a decent b5s4 clutch.

Yeah, you forgot to mention that the quality of that stock flywheel is also important. A bent or 'crooked' one will provide a more shaky feel on the clutch when letting her up. If you replace the clutch, please replace the flywheel as well, what that one is does'nt matter, as long as it's flat and not mangled up.

So b7 rs4 clutch and pressure plate work with this flywheel? Do you need b7 pilot and throw out bearings? What about hardware?

Use stock hardware (buy new though). B7 rs4 clutch will come with the pilot and throw out bearing. Those will work.

Never seen a b5 fw that went bad from normal use.
Ive seen a few later model ones that went bad though in vw diesels and newer s4's.

If you get the right one it will.
The b7rs4 pp is different and the disk is slightly different, but everything else in the kit is the same.
Ive used the ones from rockauto on stg3 dd cars. Not sure if they still have them, but $137 for a luk repset is a steal.
Only other thing you need are fw bolts, and if you want to be cool, replace the shifter socket thing on the tranny. Think they run ~40 from the dealer.
