    Removing Supercharger

Did my best to search on this, but couldn't find anything.

Has anyone removed the supercharger to change the pulley instead of going the traditional bumper-in route?

Any reason this approach isn't taken?

Lol, yes, plenty have done it. From what I've heard, it's harder to force the new pulley onto the SC when it's removed.

I took mine off to swap pulley. I think it's easier and gives you a chance to inspect your valves for carbon build up.
The charger is pretty heavy, so you may need help lifting it off. The seals are reusable also.

Was there much to it? Did you need to deal with any fluids, etc?

Good to know the seals are reusable. Thanks for the info.

It's pretty straight forward. You will loose the coolant from the SC.
There are 2 bleeder screws at the rear corners for when you fill it.
Just remove the snorkel mistake boot, connectors at the rear, 2 coolant lines at front. The remove 6 nuts and lift off.
I believe the torque spec for the nuts is 20nm

Thanks for the information. Think I'm gonna go this route and Uni stage 2/93.

Will be cool to do the entire upgrade in my own garage.

its fairly easy, undo all the vac lines and connectors going to the throttle body and intake hose. there is one connector on the throttle body that hits a bracket, i got a screwdriver and tapped it down where the connector hit to get clearance instead of removing the throttle body. disconnect the iat sensors on the charger. remove the black plastic covers by the iat sensors. undo the front coolant lines. undo the front belt. undo the 6 super charger bolts. lift up. helps to have 2 people.

The shop that did mine did it that way. They said it is just easier to do it that way. Another shop I spoke to did it the same way.

I just performed a Stage 2 upgrade on my friends A6. Used a APR pulley, baked it for an hour and a half at 450F and slipped right on with no hammering. (with the supercharger off) . If the pulley is adequately heated up, you shouldn't have to struggle to slide it on.
