Has anyone thought about doing a Brake sticky? Someone mentioned a set of front brakes pads to get that were better than factory set, I cant remember if it was a metallic blend or ceramic but they werent too expensive and got rid of brake dust issues that plague our cars. Ive been searching but come up with endless links because the word brake or brakes is used so much in random posts with like 60 pages of replies. Im thinking we should start a post to list brake setups and reviews/ comments.

In the meantime if anyone can point me in the right direction of a good set please do.

It seems like the general consensus is Akebono's are a great way to go. I personally just put them on and love them. I know some others have used Hawks and EBC as well.

You're likely referring to Akebono ceramic pads. I just switched to these, and while the decreased initial bite took some getting used to, I really like how linear they are throughout the braking maneuver. I purchased mine on Amazon, and had to purchase the front and rear pads separately, but saved about $50-60 over what ECS charged for the combined front and rear set. I paired this with new Zimmermann coated rotors; fronts were purchased through Amazon (not prime**** they sent me the wrong rotor), while I grabbed the rear from ECS. ECS wanted like $30 to ship the front rotors, but the rears were free shipping, so that drove me to Amazon. The process is pretty easy, and well documented in the DIY sticky, if you choose to do it yourself.

You have so many options, so its a bit difficult to summarize everything into a cohesive thread.

EUR1322 for the front, and EUR1018 for the rear. The fronts come with a wear sensor too.

Nice, I found them at Advance Auto for $138 for front and rear that includes shipping. They were $118 on Amazon inc shipping but I dont know the seller and am typically a bit iffy about that.

I know you mention the fronts come with a wear sensor, what about the rears? Looks like $109.21 shipped from Amazon for both fronts and rears right now. Car is in for it's 55,000 mile service and dealer quoted me $2300 for front and rear brakes (I assume that's more than just pads?!?!).

I understand, and was a little concerned about that myself. I ordered all of the pads and the front rotors from True Blue Parts on Amazon, and can only say positive things about them. This is after Prime, but shipped by Zimmermann sent me an incorrect front rotor (they're listed separately on Amazon, not in pairs). They shipped from West Nyack IIRC, and delivered in a much shorter time than quoted, but I am only across the state.

The fronts came with a wear sensor, but I do not recall the rear coming with a wear sensor. I honestly didn't have to do my rear brakes when I did, but I wanted to do all 4 corners at once. $2,300 seems really high to me, but I never even considered going to the dealer with the DIYs out there. Through some shopping around, I was able to get the 4 rotors (all Zimmermann Coated); the front pads with wear sensor; the rear pads; anti-seize; and a G2 kit for a little under $400.... $391.69 exactly. This doesn't include the VAGCOM I picked up for the EPB.

$2300 is high even for a dealer. Mine quoted me close to $800 just for the front (rear parts are a bit cheaper) with rotors and ???a $100 "anti-squeal kit"??. The last little piece i did not even ask, just went home and did it myself.

I have a set of semi metallic stop tech pads on stock rotors, but they are eating my rotors right up. To the point were I needed to buy new rotors. Last night I ordered a set of Brembo OEM replacement rotors F+R, Akebono ceramic pads F+R, stop tech stainless lines F+R and 2 liters of Pentosin Dot 4 LV Brake Fluid. Came out to be around 550 bucks shipped for a full brake job. Which isnt bad for a Audi IMHO. There not the fancy drilled and slotted rotors, but i wont notice the difference. Plus with every set of drilled and slotted rotors I have had I noticed cracks around the holes regardless of brand. I will keep you updated when I get everything installed. For the most part I was looking for a good quality braking set up, that I can push kinda hard in the summer with the fun back roads of central NY, but still have my faith with them in the brutal winter months.

They quote that and tgey try to sell it by repeating that the epb will be damaged if not done at a audi dealerhip. Once the epb i damaged then you have a bigger repair cost. What they wont explain is how easy is to disengage the epb with your vagcom and reengage and reprogram brakes to adapt to new rotor and pads. I did a complete upgrade from stock in my driveway for about 500. Both pads and rotors. Eff the stealership

Any links to what you purchased? Confirmed I need rotors and pads all the way around. Have the pads I want to buy, now need to find a good shop in the DC area that will install things for me. No time with a 6 month old at home. Service tech told me I had 3mm left on my pads and sensor will trigger at 2mm.

The Akebono pads I got off of Amazon for about $110 shipped for front and rear. Last time I had to purchase rotors I got them from ECS Tuning. I cant remember what I paid. Also, I will probably be flamed for saying this, Advance Auto Parts has pretty decent rotors and they always have coupons on slickdeals.net.
