Why when you rev an RS7 in park does it sound mean, but when you do it in an S is it so tame? Im fully aware you can rev it once youre rolling. Just not sure why its any different.

In park, the engine is not under load and no boost. Rev in gear, the load on the engine enable boost & the turbos start spooling up. In Park, maybe the wastgate is bleeding off the exhaust bypassing the exhaust turbo vane?

It sounds to me like he may be talking S6/S7 vs RS7?

Depends on if your exhaust valves are open or closed. By default they're closed when you start the car. Switch from any mode into dynamic to open the valves in park. If you're in dynamic when you started the car, switch to anything else and back.

Why would anyone rev a car in park?

The exhaust valves in an S are open at idle/park. The exhaust in the S is just way quieter than an RS. The only reason you hear more sounding in the S in sports mode is because of the induced sound in the cabin of the car, not because the exhaust vaves open. I think the only time they close is in 4 cylinder mode.
