    Block8head side vent gauge mount

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking for one of these gauge mounts

    http://www.block8head.com/

No I don't want an in-vent gauge mount, I severely dislike those .

Would prefer a double pod but open to other possibilities!

PM me if you've got one your looking to sell!

Would also be interested in possibly buying the gauge(s) with it! if your looking to sell as a package!

    Thanks

Do you know which one fit our vent?? I see the one pic for Audi but not sure which one in word form is the one to pick?

I'm interested in this. Or I might have to pull my hood off this winter and have a custom made pod done and welded to the hood........ Dual gauges on the hood..... Something about racekar saw in a movie or something!

I had contacted him and he said although it isn't listed (he only lists b5) when ordering you just inform him you want it for a B7 A4, it only comes in black also (I asked cause I have gray interior) If you want to see the description its 3/4 down the page and its only like a 3 line sentence and if you look too fast you miss it, its after subarus if I'm not mistaken

    This is what it says

    Audi B5 S4/A4 " Available for both LHD/RHD"

    Single pod: $90
    Dual pod $140

Oh my I bet I did just that. Scrolled through read those words and thought it wasn't available for the b7. Likely a phone call might be best. Hood mount for mechanical oil pressure wud be preferred in my eyes. But adding a/f and/or anything else wud be nice in the cabin. Steering column has 2 already, maybe I should order a dual gauge from podi and be done with it. Boost on 1 and dual oil pressure and afr on the other. Oh damn you car taking my money again!

Could you post a picture of what the duel column mount looks like? I'm trying to see how much it will block

More than likely its Block8Head. He has a facebook page where he shows all the ones he makes etc. I know I can order one from him but I was hoping to maybe get a bundle that included gauges or maybe if someone had a totaled car or a car they were selling where they pulled it out I would be interested in buying it, although it seems as though he is very unknown among the [AZ]ers as I never see anyone with these or being talked about

Personally I think this is the best fitting, most factory look you can get without sacrificing anything as this vent retains full functionality wheres the ones that go in the other vents you can no longer adjust those vents from what I've seen? And I don't like having the other column ones block my gauges

I think im the only one who has one of these. He requested the install pictures from my car to use on his site (but i dont see them). The gauge pod was custom made and took about 2 weeks... i love it. i can guarantee you no one will have a used one for sale. so just hit him up and have him start making one for you.

If that's the case I'm in for a dual gauge for mine pezzgoon. May aswell get one of these and have more gauges then needed.

Let me know how it goes. I'll call myself and ask if that's best perhaps he can start on a few for the b7 instead of making just one.

I agree, I am planning on getting the dual gauge as well for that reason, if you wanna give him a call do so and let me know what he says as I'm not sure if he will have to make a new mold up or something, maybe we could see if any other members are interested and just do a chunk at once and maybe make it easy for him

Damn that is gorgeous btw! I think it just matches so seamlessly and you lose no functions with it! Is that the 50MM size or the 60MM?

I don't even know what gauge I want... (like brand) I should probably figure that out first so that I know what size I'm gonna need! lol

I know I want a boost gauge and oil pressure and I am def getting the meth light add on as well, I just kinda wanna find a gauge that is multi-function, can do like oil pressure, temperature, EGR, Air-fuel. Then between the two gauges I could know everything going on

Podi man. If so maybe we cud get a gauge group buy going. I haven't seen one of those pop up in years.

I'm with you. I have the dual gauges on column, I want to add oil pressure/oil temp and afr. So being I have 4 possible locations and possibly up to 8 different gauges (if using some dual purpose gauges) this wud give plenty of spaces for gauges.

I'll call this week. Between my search for steering components.

What i did was bought the podi stepper motor boost gauge and Pod combination. After i installed it i really didnt like how the steering pod was. So i started investigating and found this guy on the mazda forum that build them. He told me that he has only built one for an audi a6 so he requested i send him photos of the b7 dashboard vent. I then sent him payment and he bought a brand new OEM audi vent and then builds the pod onto the oem vent piece. I personally only wanted a single but i believe he makes singles, doubles and tripples.

After i got the new pod and installed it, i removed my podi gauge and was able to sell it for 30 bucks. If i were you, i would buy a defi gauge or a podi gauge, and then have this pod made. The awe gauges and other smaller gauges will not fit with this pod. The podi gauge fit beautifully and its been one of my favorite additions to the b7 interior. The guage is in your face and perfect to keep your eyes on while driving.

He had great communication and his work was awesome.

Hope to see more of these pods in the b7's

Gonna agree your gauge location is prolly the best. I've revised my dual podi with some extra leds myself. Oil pressure low warning, water meth pump on, w/m tank low.

I think the dual gauges on vent wud be much nicer. The 2 dual podi gauges wud be my preferred in either setup. I'm going to contact this week. Likely order new pod and get some more gauges

Thanks for the feedback gauge looks great

How do you like the mechanical boost gauge? I want the mechanical one for the better accuracy, fast response, ND for the ability to see a boost leak, but I really would like to do two dual gauges and have four gauges on the vent, I think I may just do the mech boost gauge though with an oil temp/pressure gauge

He does offer triples but not for the b5 which is what I'm basing ours off of and I dont know if he makes triples in the vent set up I cannot remember off the top of my head

    P3 gauges.

I see people all the time selling dual vent gauges on FB for like $75 that they 3D print. It's annoying as hell.

Just wanna know what the hamsters under the hood are up to. and I'd like to be looking forward out windshield to do so. P3 seems to be selling lots of used units. I figure due to having to look down left too see gauges. Not ideal imo.

There's also a number of items to display everything in you dash display. I think this wud be great too. I just can't remember the names of them. Fizi? Something?? Arduino?? I know it can be done. I've been searching but I can't seem to remember the names of the units used. Ones apparently programable via PC.

Mechanical boost gauge is fine. If you grab one use an inline filter. I've got a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up too now. Just like the gauge to read it as is rather then a sensor calculating a physical pressure to an electronic signal.

Vfiz, there are others but I forget their names, arduino is a programmable controller lol

I have thought about that but I just didnt wanna spend the 300 on one lol

Adam as I said in the original post, I despise those type of vent mounted gauges, i do not want to sacrifice any functionality of my useable vents, as i use them. Whereas this is a solution that doesn't sacrifice the vents functionality, I'm surprised they didn't come up with a solution for this

Oh didn't see that my bad.

I just don't see the need to have that many gauges that's all. Unless you're running some crazy setup. Boost gauge is all I need!

The app I have on my phone tells me A LOT. It's cool but nothing I need to have in my face 24/7.

Dash command?? I used it for a few min to see if the AFR option worked. And it did. So that's an option too. Phone mount on that Defog vent wud be fine with me. But iPhone 6+ is a stupid heavy thing and I haven't seen a good mount for it yet. Other option wud be iPad or iPad mini. But crap 11" screen on the dash might not be such a discreet option.

Crazy setup agreement. I'm full stage 3 car from front to rear. Pretty expensive engine and turbo and all that. I just wanna be able to see/confirm the bits are in safe working order always. I don't wanna have pull out a vcds cable or whatever to see I have good pressure, temp, afr, boost in real time while driving. I'm sure pezzgoon likely feels the same.

Yes iOS so I use dash command. I was impressed with everything it told me when I first got it.

Well since you're stage 3 I guess more gauges makes sense. I'm JHM stage 2 but its just the flash and upgraded HPFP, stock turbo and everything else so I really have no need.

I di agree Canadian, currently only stock :( but with only 40k on it and 5 years of payments in sure as hell making sure it lasts me awhile, and I plan on being stage 2+ (100+ octane tune) within six months to a year, I wanna have everything ready to go for it. I have considered stage 3 but I like having my torque down low and the longer spool time doesn't interest me all that much but it does sound like a crazy drive, I think the only way I'd do the stage 3 is with a twin scroll turbo to get the down low torque

And in regards to having too much info, I feel like having oil pressure and temp are kind of critical knowledge to maximizing turbo life

Im sure the people can see it. When the window is down you can easily spot it from the driver side. Im not sure if they can see it from the passenger side due to the gauge cluster dash hump. (or whatever you would call it) Latley however i been driving with the windows up (tinted) and the ac on, so you can always go that route.
