Spare tire question-when moving to larger wheel spec

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2012 audi a4. going from the original s-line 18 inch wheels to 19 inch peelers.

the car comes with the "donut" spare wheel of course. In case of a flat with the 19 inch peelers, can i use the original donut? Is the donut the same size for the 18inch and 19inch vehicles. Tried searching and couldn't find an answer. Has anyone used their stock donut when they upped their wheel size etc.

    thanks guys.

Did you even look at the spare tire for the size? If so you would have seen that it's a 19" donut perfect for those peelers...

The donut is used for 17-19" wheels.

Not only this, but when you slapped those peelers on, did you account for the overall diameter of the tire by using a lower profile tire to accommodate the increased wheel size? The diameter of the wheel isn't all that important when talking about a spare, but the overall diameter of the tire should be roughly the same.

^This. Also should be factored in for purposes of your speedometer.

If all B8 Spares are the same, the rolling diameter is nearly identical to a 255/35/19 tire. I know from recent experience.

im asking because its my girlfriends car. i haven't been able to check the spare size. so perfect, wasnt aware it was a 17-19 inch. that helps me out.

i havent received the peelers yet, it was something i was curious about. my b7 i have a full size spare and my m3 unfortunately doesn't have a spare or donut. so as for her car i wanted to get more information on.
the peelers are on a 255/35/19 tire.

Then the rolling diameter is practically identical to the spare. Well within tolerances.
