    Luft-Technik Intake???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I know most of you have already seen the Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Intake System by ECS, with the carbon fiber cover over the entire thing like a Carbonio x10 with the same price tag...... But just browsing YouTube I see they now offer a lower-budget intake. Practically the same with a different heat shield, and no carbon fiber cover (I assume this allows the lower price point). Anyways this one is called just Luft-Technik, without the Kohlefaser and you can check it out here

    https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4...nce/ES3023195/

Now to my question... Does anyone have this? Anything good or bad to say about it? Any heat soak? I searched and don't see anything other than the Kohlefaser.
It seems like a great alternative for those of us not wanting to spend nearly half a grand on an intake system for little to no performance gains whatsoever. And before you say it, yes, I could make one.. But look at that heat shield! I'd almost buy it just for that....

Anyways let me know if you have it and if you like it. This is even cheaper than most used Carbonios lol.. Very tempting...

To me it looks more like an expensive version of a DIY intake 🤔

I think you're better off giving me that $280 so I can spend it on something that'll actually do something good for my car :D

Exactly, but as I pointed out, that heat shield is far better looking (and probably more functional) than what I could ever make in my garage. And for a guy that details his engine bay as much as the car itself, an ugly aluminum or insulation foil wrapped piece of metal would make my eyes bleed. Making the intake is easy, but making a decent heat shield is completely different. And without a decent heat shield the entire project is worthless. You gain the sound that you're looking for, and create a hot air intake and lose power.

I don't expect to gain power from an intake, I just expect the sound I want without a loss of power at the very least. And if it comes with slightly increased throttle response as most others have reported, then I can dig that too. To me, spending the money on something that's already proven to be functional is worth far more than the headaches and potential failures down the road of making my own. Plus, I might just wait til Christmas so it's on sale. 15% off is better than nothing.

Haha one hater of the overpriced intakes, many more to come I'm sure. Hey, if you needed $280 to feed your family or pay some bills I'd have no problem doing it brother, but based on your sig I think your car is doing just fine :)

If I wanna waste $280 on a totally non performance enhancing, aesthetically pleasing, turbo whoosh loudening piece of metal and filter let me do it damnit!
I mean, at least I'm not thinking of spending $500 on the pretty carbon fiber one, right?

PS speaking of your car... How do you like that RS4 clutch? JHM? Needing one soon myself.. 2 launch assists with stage 1 and I saw smoke

Idk, I'm with you man. I saw this intake and for that price!

We actually had a whole discussion about it under classifieds where everyone was telling me not to get it, I agreed... Then I saw it again and was like... Naaah I'm getting it lololol

If you pick it up, let mr know how much it does affect sounds! I was wondering whether or not because it seals against the hood if that muffles the sound more than say, a DIY cone with an eBay heat shield that is like just wide open (and a quarter the price lol)

I think they did a great job on this intake and it looks great for the price point!

Ps good to know they do a sale in Christmas time

That reminds me, I gotta update my signature with the new parts!! Hahaha but the clutch is great! I'd say jhm or ecs, whichever you prefer. It's nice and grabby, but doesn't make the car any worse to daily drive. And when you wanna lay down some rubber, that rs4 plate can take it. And the only time I hear "chatter" is starting the car. Just a different start up sound, that's it.

Our heat shield does seal against the hood which provides excellent isolation of the filter from heat. Not to mention it also still utilizes the factory air scoop in the front to direct cool fresh air towards the filter.

As for the sound the fact it seals against the hood really doesn't muffle the sound of the intake at all.

Every person has a different @ what are. Im more a all go and no show . I prefer being stealthy. If you @ my car it looks pretty much stock. Which is exactly where I want to be. Catch so many Honda Civic's that way. Love to do that when there with girl in the car. Just to see their faces as I away from them is priceless.

Some people mod their cars for the . Nothing wrong with that either. Different strokes for different folks

If price is not a huge factor, Afe performance Stage2 is worth considering also. Afe has good products in general. My buddy has this intake, and it sounds great. Carbonio, on the other hand, is too expensive and its carbon fiber has a tendency to become yellowish over time.
