I'm contemplating getting the ECS tuning catch can for my B7 S4...the car doesn't show any problems at the moment, however as a preventative measure would installing the catch can be a good idea to extent PCV life and reduce engine stresses caused by blow by gasses? (Thinking that a well functioning PVC helps with this). Looking for some expert insight.

It's a good way to gauge engine blow by issues. If it starts filling up more than say a gatorade bottle capful per 3k miles...ya might have a problem ;)

Aside from that it will help keep your intake manifold...cleaner.

That's kinda what I was thinking... That and trying to keep the PCV relatively healthy and not get gummed up if there are issues.
