Well modding anyways.....there really is only so much that can be done to these vehicles. Very little that hasn't been done before
So this is how it's going to stay.
Travelled to NY state last week and picked up a new project

God what took so long bk?? I'm not prejudiced so the turn signals will stay orange. I can't justify spending $1000 to get rid of amber. The experience I had with JHM was abysmal. I've never had an absolute crap tune on a vehicle and when I reach out to them there is no help. I still don't know if it's them or the shop that installed it. ( I'm leaning towards the tuner shop).
Anyway I picked up a 1969 Camaro SS in New York that needs to be restored so that is going to be my focus. Still love the S5, just not going to be dumping a lot into it anymore.
Of course I'll still be trolling you guys, always some great giggles!

bk- I was down near Albany, really want to see ur R8 one of these days. I have family that have a beach house on the Jersey shore, usually fly by NYC when I go down
SLU_S5- The tune bypassed the cats, I could not pass emissions test here to get plate sticker. I would also get random misfires and check engine lights

1969 SS Camaro. Awesome choice. That's the best year for sure with the longer tail lights. Does it have the hide away headlights?

That was the RS. I will def be putting those on tho. I'm not too concerned with anything being numbers matching. Detroit Speed has new headlight door kits that are electric, that's the shit.
Mine has 4 wheel drum and no power steering, it was a bitch to drive onto my trailer! First thing is power steering and 4 wheel big brake kit. It does have the original 350 and 4 gear trans.

I was surprised at the Jersey Shore. Very nice clean spot, with some really nice homes. Nice feel.

    - Not modding the S5 because you can't be unique
    - Buys 69 Camaro

This made me laugh. I am not knocking, to each their own.

If you are new to the muscle car world, check out pro-touring.com. Also there are rack and pinion steering conversions available if you are looking to modernize the feel. Tremec manual transmissions and LS swaps are pretty much the go to on those. Good luck with your new project. My advice is to map out how you want the car before you start buying or changing things. Otherwise you'll get halfway through and realize the suspension setup, rear end, wheels, etc aren't going to work with some other aspect of the car. It happens all of the time, and is especially evident in most peoples build threads.

Everyones doing the LS swap. If I were you I would drop in a 502 crate motor with a holly 4bbl and get a 6 spd tranny out of a 90's camaro. That would be pretty badass. Also have to do the real mild cam. I miss having the old school V8's sometimes. So easy to work on and just so much room under that hood to get stuff done without scraping up your hands.

Josh, not my first rodeo, wanted a 69 for 30 years have built a few Camaros

ATMMAC- long term this will happen, right now the motor and 4 speed have just been rebuilt so my wife will love that I don't have to spend on those. I'm fortunate that I have a machine shop at my disposal and can play with some carbon fiber

Mops- I was shocked at how nice it was there, they have their dock and a 36' boat in their backyard. Never seen so many jelly fish in my life tho, wanna stay far from the water

never tune an NA car.. never tune an NA car.. Never tune an NA car.. everytime someone asks for a tune on an NA car on this forum i say this over and over.. i remember telling someone that the numbers JHM got out of the RS4 was not typical and it looked like it had crazy timing and it was unsafe .. i also seen a couple posts in the RS4 forum indicating that.. the only way to make serious power out of an NA motor is to add forced induction and that's going to run you anywhere from $15,000 to upwards of $50,000 (believe me i know) once the power gets addictive and you thirst for more.. which is why the next car i bought had Forced Induction to begin with.

Unless you're going to add a Supercharger to an NA S5 .. the only thing you can do is enjoy the sound and according to the B7 RS4 Forum who torched me for 5 pages that feeling can last an eternity .. i'm sorry i'm a competitor and sooner or later the sound of a great motor isn't going to do it for me when almost every car on the road can whoop my ass on the highway..

Anyway congrats on the new project... projects are always fun and old muscles are amazing when done up correctly ... fortunately you can get performance and sound out of that car because so much support and less electronics to deal with

Doug - I really miss wrenching on old muscle cars, can't wait to start tearing into this. On the other hand I love getting in the S5, just wish there was more power short of forced induction.
The interior is fantastic, looking forward to going to our US office tomorrow.
