    Brake Pads for Cold Climate

Looking for brake pads for use with OEM rotors and calipers that will work well in a cold climate. I was looking at EBC Red Stuff but decided to talk to local mechanics. One advised against ceramic due to squeaking and chattering in cold weather, recomending semi-metallic from Brembo or Bosch, while another mechanic favors Akebono Euro. I'm not doing any tracking now but may do some autocross or ice racing in future. Would be nice to cut down on dust. Opinions?

Akebono Euro are ceramic, I was looking at them but decided against them for the reasons you listed. I just did S4 full brake swap on my B6 A4 avant and went with Stoptech rotors and their new Street pads and am really happy with them. Quiet, low dust and the braking in wet and cold first stop are both very good. My B7 S4 brakes are coming due and I'll be using the Stoptech pad on it. Got them through Tire rack.
