    Could be spark plugs,
Can you rev? and also let us hear back of the exhaust when idle.

I'm having a lifter issue as well, mine will go away when the car warms up, is this video during a cold start? What oil are you using? I ran mobile 1 5w30 synthetic, I switched to Rotella t6 5w40 and it quieted down significantly. Try using the Rotella for a few oil changes for diesel oil has better detergent properties than our standard synthetic motor oil does.

    Edit : spelling ( auto correct )

Have you taken the valve cover off for a peek?

the 3.0's, including mine had cam shaft issues and sometimes a lobe will wear down. Not sure if the 1.8's had this issue?

I had that in both of my Audis 1.8t and 2.8.
Used "Rislone engine cleaner", gradually went away. It slowly remove the sludge.

Prepare 2 oil filter and oil as it will get dark from the cleaning. (Writing this make me sound like a snake oil sellers, but it worked as intended)

    Step
    1. keep the oil filter, poor complete Rislone container in (dont overfill the engine, remove oil if needed),
    2. After 3000 km, drain oil, replace filter, (use cheap oil)
    3. After 3000 km, drain oil, replace filter, (use cheap oil)
    4. Use quality oil and a new filter, problem should be solved!

You can try this engine flush procedure as stated above, ultimately we have the same goal in mind. I do not know the cost of his suggestion but rotella oil is fairly cheap and will clean the motor just by a few oil changes.
