I bought the black dip and the glossifier. I watched some vids on it.
Temp/humidity thing is good to know. How long do you wait in between coats?
I'm assuming light coat. Wait until it changes color. Do again over and over. Add glossifier coat a couple of times or so.
Yes patience is key with this stuff. I waited about 15 mins in between coats, and it was completely dry to the touch at that point. (Note: I touched the overspray to test dryness, rather than getting skin oils on the actual piece and ruining it). If you like how mine came out, then temp/humidity won't be an issue. It was hot and humid when I did it.
I think since you have the BO package with everything else black, the rings in the rear would look great in black as well. Just my opinion obviously, but you're only ever going to see the car from one angle at a time. So when you look from behind, you will have a nicely blended black optics combo, and when you look from the front, well, unfortunately even I haven't been able to decide what to do with those chrome rings to make the front end match. Also as a side note: Have you thought about the carbon fiber rings for the rear? I know you have a bunch of nice carbon goodies coming soon.
And yes, light coats. You want to spray each coat from different angles to get the maximum amount of coverage on the piece. So for example, the first coat I spray facing the piece directly and very lightly(Maybe like 2 or 3 passes over it). The second coat, I'll spray it from the left on an angle. The third coat I'll spray it from the right on an angle. The fourth coat I'll spray it from the bottom aiming upwards. The fifth coat I'll spray it from the top aiming downwards. At that point you'll have PLENTY of coverage all around the piece. Then coats 6 and 7 I'll just spray at whatever angle I think might not have been hit the best.
Edit: besides a small test piece, I have no experience with the glossifier. I watched some videos from Fonzie and it looks like applying 1 or 2 coats thick and wet is the better option for it. I couldn't say for sure though.
