Dealer says motor mounts are broken

Hi all,

My A7 is in for service to replace the fuel pump but as they were diagnosing it they found that the left and right motor mounts were torn. I was quoted $2,500 to get the motor mounts replaced. Could I possibly order the mount parts online and get this done elsewhere?

No I'm not under warranty anymore, it's at 60k right now.

LMAO! Effin' stealerships! What a crock. I'd definitely go somewhere else with the OEM parts to be installed. Alternatively, there may be a nice upgrade out there that is more durable. I haven't looked personally.

I don't know what the process is on the C7 but I've done plenty of other mounts on my own and none were all day affairs. They probably have to support the motor, drop the subframe, swap them and then re-align the subframe. They have all the fancy tools and the jig at the dealer too. They should be more fair about this but their not because they can be.

What a joke. Sorry to hear. It really isn't uncommon to snap stock mounts in cars producing much more Tq than stock. Especially if you do any launches or are heavy with the right foot in general.

look up the part #s on diff sites if you want as well may find it a bit cheaper. and labor is maybe like 2-3 hrs for a decent shop, shouldn't be more than like $1k total for parts & labor.

also before you do anything i'd maybe just get the mounts looked at again by a good independent shop, they can at least confirm for you if you do need to replace them, stealership may just be talkin BS, seems a bit early for mounts to go bad like that but who knows. do you feel vibrations or anything weird or have you not noticed any issues? if not you can prob just hold off on them unless they are diagnosed to be bad. also i'd probably stick to OEM because you could maybe find some stiffer aftermarket ones but they are more performance oriented and from what i've read the stiffer mounts can get a bit uncomfortable and too rigid for a daily driver so you may end up not liking the harder feel after that.

The car does vibrate quite a bit when it's parked which was one of my concerns when I dropped it off. I'll have a shop look at it sometime this week. Thanks for the part numbers/info btw.

Check with 034 Motorsports to see if they have motor mounts for your car.

Will do, also got a quote for $350 installation from a trusted shop. With the left and right mounts from ECS it brings it down to a much better price.

I recently had both motor mounts replaced at the dealership and my cost was $1152 which includes $178 discount. Your dealership price quote is outlandish to the say the least. The labor hours, according to Audi, for r&r both mounts is 6 hours plus parts. My dealership charged me $436 total for both mounts.

yea i think the warranty will be somewhere in that range, the longer you wait the higher it will go though, but could be worth getting the basic powertrain or silver level warranty. although now that this dealer knows about the mounts you can prob take it to another one and have them fix there under the extended warranty.

That's actually a better idea. I asked around for extended warranty quotes and was quoted $3600 for an extra 100k miles or 5 years. I think I'll go with an extended warranty and take it from there. Thanks everyone!

The bad motor mounts could be listed in your service history and if so, a new warranty would not cover them.
