I've never had any disconnect problems. Once in a very rare while, my phone will fail to connect when I first get in the car, but toggling the bluetooth off and on again on the phone fixes it. I have a Nexus 6 if it matters. Note II before that.
I'm not that familiar with the Tune 2 Air, so I can't really compare the two. I just like this because it's OEM and doesn't have a bunch of extra wires like some of the other generic BT solutions.
The only complaint I have besides it not being integrated into the car to begin with is that there's no song/playlist data displayed, at least for 3rd party apps like Pandora. I don't know how it'd work with an iPhone or with stuff playing from file folders on the device.
