So this my second RS4, first one being a stock '08 w/ the Ti package 45k when purchased. That was my only requirement on my first RS4. The aluminum window just urked me for some weird reason. The piano black trim interior at first was nice and sleek but I found myself desiring the RS4s carbon fiber trim more and more after seeing it in person and how much better it looked compared to my previous B7 S4 due to the larger weave pattern. The price just wasn't justified and I could never locate a cheap set.
Jnabeel, I saw you comment on Nyslc's FS post stating his is worth "close to 40k" with 58k miles and similar mods except for the JHM SC, clutch/LWFW and few other supporting modifications that are necessary. So about $6-9k difference depending on what your definition of "low" and "close to" are for the 30k mile difference and maybe something else that depreciates the value of my car in your, correct?
So when I purchased my first RS4 with 45k miles, I read up on the CC and DRCs which plagues these cars and the PPI checked out. It was a perfect stock RS4, 1 owner, and the guy was in his late 40s (private party transaction) with all services and maintenances at the Audi dealership documented and handed to me
.
Not long after picking up the car, a DRC went out and the front control arms. I CC done and spark plug/coil packs replaced within 5k miles, 2 faulty injectors (another common fault) went out about a year later and so did the clutch/flywheel, and brakes/rotors replaced at around 60k. I ended up selling that RS4 at 68k (23k miles of ownership).
When I hear low mileage, that means under 30k. From 50k-100k is the golden age of shit going wrong for a car.
2 RS4s for the same price but you valued one more based off mileage. The things you should be valuing is maintenance. Brakes, rotors, CC, tires, clutch, flywheel, major services were not even mentioned in this post. That all ran me about $10k. So essentially if you bought that car, you will be dumping that in the next year. So add that to that RS4 and it's $16k-$19k from our 2 RS4s. You will learn the hard way that from 60k to 80k miles on the RS4 is the spend money stage. You might think that 3 months of looking at the market, but you're not valuing as much these extremely expensive costs of maintenance and services into your consideration. Learn from our mistakes and experiences.
