meet kody, our guide through the process

    disassembly

    testing for vacuum

then a little hocus pocus on that machine in the back

on to cleaning the parts and reassembling them with replacement valves

best thing i did for my rebuilt transmission which was still shifting like broken glass as mentioned.

the VB rebuild was close to $600 total but mine apparently didnt need a couple valves that typically need replacement. the main valve was terrible however. what do i know?

i bought the car with the rebuilt transmission. they didnt touch the VB however. hence my visit to get it rebuilt.

Hmm, my tiptronic was rebuilt just before I bought it but they didn't do anything with the valve body either. Rebuild was around $3500. It got new clutches, seals and TC.

At 100,000 miles, how much longer should the tip last? I find it hard to believe that they hadn't improved the technology by 2005 (my allroad MY) A valve body rebuild sounds like a great idea. I'm also curious to know how difficuly of a job it is to rebuild yourself?
