DIY Rear brake pads: EPB tips or cautions?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all.

I was going to do my rear brakes and when I hooked up VAGCOM, it warns of damaging the EPB system. I see on ross-tech, they also mention dealers damaging cars and sending them out the door. Does anyone have any tips or words or warning? I want to make sure I do things properly. The mechanical portion is quite easy but I don't want to screw up things from an electronic stand point.

Here is their description for our cars.

I have swapped rear brake pads so many times I have lost count, I have tracked my A6 frequently so I swap street pads for track pads. I use VCDS to put the EPB in the correct position so that the caliper piston can be compressed. I have not encountered any problems. Sometimes I have hooked up a battery charger to the battery terminals under the hood and other times I have not done that. I believe the problems that you have found in your searches occurred on older model Audi's. If you want the best piece of mind, just hook up a battery charger to the terminals under the hood.

jrs, What do you do differently?

You have to jump to the UDS section in the vid which starts at ~6m10s. This is the same video in the link I provided, (bottom of the screen). The Ross-Tech is link I provided is shown to be current, 4G/4H. 4G=C7. I'll try again this weekend. There must have been something out of sequence.

Ok, I stand corrected. I did not complete watching the video. So the video is correct. Sorry for jumping to a conclusion prematurely.
