Hello, i recently got a 2000 A4 quatro and it has a lot of oil leaks...took it to the shop to get analyzed and quote to fix them all but am guessing it's going to be a lot of $$$. I suspect one of the leaks is the cam adjuster gasket in the back cause it was smoking from that area but have no clue where the other ones are. The valve covers look to have new gaskets w/ no leaks. After cleaning up the oil around the bottom of the car i let it run a bit and have 3 separate oil drips, Apparently its been leaking awhile because there is a couple quarts of oil in the trunk, and after checking the dip stick it was on the full mark...so I am beginning to think someone kept putting too much oil in it, thinking the top part of the dip dip stick was the full mark.
Has anyone had similar situations? I think I could replace the cam adjuster gasket after watching a video on it on YouTube, but wondering if these motors all have the same common leak places? Thanks in advance for any help

Any of those gaskets up there tend to go bad like any other gasket. If it's original to the car then a leak wouldn't be unusual. It's very easy to change out. Just get the tool. It's like 15$ If you do do an oil change make sure you get the larger oil filter. My car takes about 4.5 liters once filled all the way.
