25k service no more fog lighs

I took my car in for a 25k service and 2 days after I got my car back my fog lights stopped working. I'm running 3k hids and have been for almost a year now and have never had a problem with them. Before the service when I turned my fog lights on they would fire up turn off and fire back up and stay on. Now when I push the fog light button the green light comes on and then turns off and stays off I checked the wiring and so did the service tech and all they can come up with is that both ballast are out. No way did they both at the same exact time the dealership also rest all my setting when they scanned my ecu which pissed me off when I got my car back. Which is no problem can I just have to set it up again but my biggest rant is my fog lights not working anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like you had an issue before if they were going off after you turned them on.

I've had both ballasts go at or near the same time in my B6...it can happen. Today's LEDs are almost as capable as HIDs in the fog position, perhaps you may want to consider that route. They also give off less heat...the HID's in my B6 began to melt the housings...I used them as DRL's.

There's a special on the forum right now, shipped I think its less than $70. Initial reviews are promising, I ordered a set. :)

Mechanics turn Off the headlights when they bring the car into the bay with them set to Auto because they turn On and stay On during work or service or what have you. In order for your fogs to remain On after pressing the button, you need to have your light switch back on Auto or fully On. Set it to Auto, which is probably what you had it on all along.

Now if you're saying you could run the DRLs and fogs at the same time with no headlights On, then an update to settings is what updated and changed that. Considering your VAGCOM mods all went away, I'm willing to bet that could have happened. The thing is, I've not seen a specific coding to do this, so not sure how your car behaved this way stock from the factory.
