    Hey All,

My car is bone stock engine wise. A few months back I started hearing a whining airplane kinda sound. Any ideas? Maybe the fan clutch?

I'd guess the serpentine belt tensioner.

It sounds like your viscous fan clutch could be stuck locking the fan in 1 to 1 lock up. With the engine off and cold you should be able to spin the fan and get 1-2 revolutions out of it. When the engine gets hot the fan clutch goes into lock up and he fan will spin 1-1 with the engine rpms otherwise the fan spins slower than engine rpm and you can't here it as loud as when its spinning at engine rpms.

Sounds like a steeringpump, dynamo or waterpump / belt something that is messed up.

If it sounds similar, in my case I thought initially it was the power steering pump since the sound seemed like it was coming from there. Turned out to be the tensioner pulley, thankfully it is easy to replace without having to remove anything more than the accessory belt and bi-pipes.
