can any RS7 owners that have installed this tell me their thoughts , such as, noise levels - intoxicating or bothersome and droney- perceived performance improvements, would you do it again, and anything else that might influence me to go with this or not. many thanks.

I have a few videos on my IG @tonymission
Some of the older ones are just with exhaust and the more recent ones have catless downpipes.

I would do it again because it sounds awesome. LOL
There's no drone when cruising but you don't get the full benefit of the exhaust while you're inside because of the car's active noise cancellation. Everyone around you will think it sounds better than you do.
Butt dyno made me feel a slight increase after install... it's a lot lighter too.
Once I got the GT3 and thought that it was intoxicating at 9000 rpm... my whole family has made a comment like "the RS7 still sounds a lot better dad, you should put that exhaust on here.."

Dollar for dollar cost/benefit analysis, it's probably not worth the price tag, but there are some things I just chose to not do that kind of analysis on. I just wanted what I wanted and got it. Can't get too hung up all the time on value if you can afford it, just do it.

Does anyone know if the Akrapovic-sourced Audi Sport Exhaust on the RS7 Performance has the downpipes? What's the difference is set-up and sound?

    Nail on head.

This system does sound the bees nees on the RS7. Wish more people would opt for this system on the other 4.0L chassis. The beauty of these cars and the active noise cancellation, no drone, even the loudest systems barely drone, if at all. The cars I've been inside actually had less noise inside the car after doing downpipes, the cats cause a lot of restriction and in my opinion creates that resonance.

The downpipes on these cars are basically the cat sections. On these cars, its different than the 3.0T's where downpipes are considered the sections post the cat. So on the RS7 Performance exhaust, the downpipes (cat sections) are the same as the standard RS7's.

I didn't think the RS7 had active noise cancellation?

Maybe it's called something else, but it definitely does. You especially notice it as you start to modify the exhaust system because from factory it's tuned to cancel out specific frequencies and those obviously change as your exhaust does.
Massive difference between the note with the windows down and the windows up. More than just the obvious difference of windows up/down.

Yes it has some damping, might not be active cancellation, but the exhaust is definitely more quite in the car then out of the car.

Odd...Audi sells performance exhaust and then cancels out the sound. Something not right with this picture.

I think you're misunderstanding, they aren't canceling out the sound so much as the performance exhaust is not loud. Plus the car is dampened. Even if the car wasn't dampened at all it wouldn't be loud. It's more a problem of Audi went too conservative on the exhaust note, hence many people buying Milltek and Akrapovic exhausts. The dampening in the car is actually quite nice, very little road noise, compared to say a Maserati, where you hear every note of air and sounds coming in the cracks.
