I know this is personal preference, but I like the "before" version better. Its driving me crazy how prevalent the "black optics" option has become on the majority of cars available. And my wife hates it, so that really cuts down the possibility.

I appreciate your opinion and I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with the before version, its just the car looks too "executive" for my taste and not sporty enough. The only thing black optic on the car is the grille, and again everyone has there own taste. Because the car was not originally "black optic" for me now it's black where it's supposed to be black "grille, mirrors, rear valance" and silver where it's supposed to be silver "front rings, ACC surround, wheels, window trim, rear diffuser, tail pipes and rings". It all blends together nicely now along with the matte black details and has a more sporty and aggressive look to it, which is what I was going for without the "murderd out look".
Just as you think the black optic option has become too prevalent, I personally think the "RS" look is far to overdone now, but like you said its personal preference.

    Cheers

I agree, I think it looks sportier without going totally blacked out. Is it a wrap, dip or new grill?

Thanks like I said that's exactly what I was going for. It's a new black optic grille, I still have the original if I decide at some point in the future to put it back to the factory look.

I also like the before pictures better. The after pictures are not my taste. But it's not my car. The important thing is that you like it.

funny, I just picked up a black S6 from Audi Central Houston and my wife also has a Q5

I will be doing some vinyl on mine Monday, doing it a bit different though. Wrapping the chrome trim around the stock S6 grill and the chrome trim around the windows. Using gloss black instead of a matt. I think this is the cleanest route on a black S6 w/o going completely backed out. The black canvas with the gray accents in the rear valance/grill and silver accents in the mirrors/ACC/grill. Might paint all the chrome badges silver or gray at some point also, but really once the chrome from the windows and grill is gone, the chrome badges don't stand out any longer.

if you look at post #9 in the thread below, you can see how the stock grill looks with just the chrome wrapped.

Did you put the matt gray on the back of the trunk too? that would be the one I am not sure works well

I agree with you, bUT mostly because the car is black. Basically erasing the front grill, which is one of the most defining features of the car is a little confusing to me. I like the before mirrors as weLL but can see how that may not be to everyone's taste.

Getting my grille fixed after removing license plate holder. Gonna get a matte black finish on the gray painted areas and keep the chrome. Will post pics when I do it (2 weeks more than likely)

    S6 Before and after...

I like it as well. Although I have a black 7 with blank optic. I personally love the black optic look. The chrome is just meh. The grille looks 1000 times better. Do the window trim! I like it stealth looks great and much more aggressive.

Interesting choice. I think if you hate the plate enough to move it you just should remove it.
