    Front brakes honking

My front brakes have suddenly decided to make a subtle honking sound when first applied. There are power stop carbon fiber ceramic pads with Centric drilled rotors comma B7 S4 setup. I checked the slide pins and they seem tight, the dust caps are in place with fresh Permatex ceramic brake Grease.

Could be because they are cold and haven't warmed up. Have you gone through proper bedding in of the pads?

This is an excellent article on how it should be done: Clicky click

Yeah they've been on since march. I just regressed the slide pins 2 weeks ago and discovered one had come unscrewed! Red loctited er' back on then did the same to the others. Been good since but the sound happens just as the pedal begins to be applied then stops when full contact is made.

Last time I had this it was with PAGID pads on my GTI. It always happened to the rear brakes when they were cold and i was rolling out of the driveway. I used to drive that car hard and after about 10-15k of me getting on the binders late it went away. Google proper bedding procedure for new brakes and maybe that will cure your honking. Good luck.
