weird issue with trip computer resetting itself

Okay so I just got my car a couple weeks ago and I dont know whether this issue was present before I had to pull the instrument panel to fix the blinker clicker but what's been happening is when I shut the car off for loner than a few hours the number one trip computer will reset the miles and the hours but nothing else, is this normal behavior?(I'm assuming not) when I shut the car off and turn it immediately back on it doesn't do it either so I'm alittle stumped by this, and the second trip computer is unaffected in any way

This is the dis info screen, car is 2005.5 and has 40k on it

    Any ideas would be awesome!

I think this normal. I never use them so I can't be 100% sure.

The trip computer under the total miles doesn't reset right? In the right hand corner.

Nope that one is fine, its the driver information display, so the one that is in between the Speedo and tach that is controlled using the wiper stalk. I'm going to see overnight whether its me just being fckin crazy and resetting it and not remember but its everytime I get in in the morning and after work it does it

Must be the other personality lol

You're probably on the menu setting for trip/hours (if you have the menu selection on the wiper stalk). If so then it's resetting because it only records for that "trip" of when the car is turned on and then off.

Trip Computer Mode 1 will reset all it's values back to 0 after the car has been turned off for more than 2 hrs. If you restart the car within that 2 hr period, the "old" values will remain unless you manually reset using the wiper stalk Reset button.

Audi's assumption is that all restarts within 2 hrs are the same trip; kinda similar reasoning I guess to why the trip computer will flash after you have driven for 2 hrs elapsed time without a 10 minute break.

Trip Computer Mode 2 is only reset when you want it to, using the same wiper stalk Reset button.

Info is on Pg 43 of my A4 Sedan manual.

Ohhhhhhhh okay. I was wondering if it might automatically reset itself, it has definitely been driving me mad as I've been thinking I was resetting it when I wasn't etc. And I had confirmation today as I went to a bar, four hours later came out and the sucker was at zero so I knew it was not me this time! Thanks for the info/help sorry for sounding like teh noobz :(

    Thanks all
